people not taking turns...
I haven't been playing long, but this is one of the things that get on my nerves the most. When someone start's a game and doesn't take one turn it's terrible!
I started one game the guy joined than took one turn then never showed back up...don't you hate it?

Yup. one trick I use, is to avoid playing games with new recruits. A very large percentage of people who sign up here, never finish a game.

Unless you are playing an RT game (real time), or speed game (you need premium to play speed games), do not count on people taking their turns fast .
This is primarily a game site designed for the casual user.
From the Home page;
"Designed for the casual gamer, playing Conquer Club is not a time consuming process. You can take your turn in 5 minutes with your morning cup of coffee or in between classes. A game typically lasts several days, but hardcore risk takers can play multiple games at once and stay up all night strategizing their next move."
I highly recommend premium membership, as well as getting to know people in chat who play RT games.
Best of luck, and may the Dice Gods smile apon you.

Yes, moving slowly is up to the individual - but missing turns, especially all yer turns, is another matter.

I have been fortunate enough to not encounter many deadbeats, but based on the few I have played with, I agree. Deadbeats suck. Albeit, if they have a good reason, its not entirely their fault.
P.S. What's the difference between Real Time games and speed games?

Speed games have 5 minute's per turn, a clock counts down, and when it reaches zero the next person goes,
The RT games I am referring to are usually regular 24 hour turn based games, that people choose to play in one sitting, there is no timer.
And yes i know speed games are RT games as well. However speed games are a whole different animal. (try doing a 8 man esc elimination, with a timer breathing down your neck, it really tests your ability to think fast)

When I first joined, I didn't realize how long matches took, and I didn't know about account sitting. I had to go to camp a few weeks after I joined, so the couple of games I was in l ended up deadbeating.

bollocks... automated attendance has been around for like 3 weeks.. when was camp? you can't come in a thread, ripping on deadbeats, when you, yourself are a deadbeat... oh, the irony... sometimes this place just makes my head hurt...-0

Re: people not taking turns...
It was a little over a month ago. I admit, its not a great excuse, but its the one I have. Further in my defense, as near as I can tell, I only missed a total of four turns, deadbeating 1 game. When I said "deadbeats suck", I was mostly referring to those that do it on a regular basis or do it just because they don't like the way the game is going out for them, not those that simply can't avoid it. After all, some people have lives besides cc, and circumstances do come up. My attendance percentage looks worse than it is (in my opinion at the very least) because I have finished a whopping 8 games, not the hundreds that some people here have completed. I admit, I screwed up, but I have changed my ways and not missed a single turn since.
Sorry for my rant, especially since I now realize that I started this by responding to a comment that wasn't even aimed at me in the first place
, but I just wanted to do what I could to clear my name.
