I noticed in an earlier post you talked about taking your kids to a movie. How many kids you got?

Welp, I am curious to hear Jay explain Carbon 14. And also the methods actually used to date older stone/fossils. Perhaps Jay can tell us the age of the oldest stone on earth, and how we know it is that old? At least he is going to have to actually educate himself here, and that is the best way to learn.

Amazing to me, how creationists always attack Carbon-14 without even understanding what it is really used for(PACKRAT!!!!). And though they call it faulty sciences, they get their timeline of the Earths age/creation from a book that just says "God did it."
Fine argue that God did it, but how is Radio dating more faulty than "God did it."

Juan, where did you get that avatar? Is that the "V" from the old tv series V? Of is it from Vendetta?

V for Vendetta. I had a different one(EXACT SAME BUT SMALLER) but TZOR gave me this one whilst we were protesting on Wicked's behalf. He left forever though... and I miss him so.

You know, I read a lot about this person "wicked" must have been some battle. I don't need to know more now, so don't feel obliged to educate me, besides you have probably had enough.

I did really enjoy the movie Vendetta, however. Did it inspire your use of the avatar?

Yes I have had enough. I'm embarrased by the whole situation.
Sure did. Not neccissaraly the movie, or the novel... but the message. V

Yes, I liked the solidarity of ordinary people at the end. You don't see much of that today in this country.

And yet, we are very much in the same situation. I am sick of "terrorism!" The Department of Homeland Security hasn't caught a single frickin' terrorist. It's all a scare tactic.
Same situation, but the real world is obviously the lesser extreme of the two examples.

Well, I lived through the Black Panther early years. I particularly like their Serve the People Programs. However, this is a very violent country, and most all of the leadership of the party were killed or imprisoned. There is a New Black Panther Party, but I don't know much about it.

Me either, I'm no Black Panther!!!!

I just raised my fist in solidarity, one world, one people.

Anyway, this thread is very de-railed now.

(NOT AN EXCUSE TO 'miss' MY QUESTIONS!)

Oldest stone on Earth? No one knows. Nor will they ever know until we invent a time machine to go back and see it being formed. The current dating methods require us to "take their word" for it. And they do not KNOW if they are accurate. It is blind speculation. I don't believe anyone can know how old something is by these methods. And we can't "prove" them wrong, so they run with it.

Again, before you mock dating methods, how do they "think" they work? Why are they wrong?

Fundamentalist logic ;

All Science that contradicts the bible is flawed, the definition of flawed being not absolutely 100% proven.
Any Science that can be utilised to help prove creationism or disprove aspects of evolution is not flawed regardless of how flimsy it may be, no absolutes of proof required in this instance.
Not quite sure how one can justify such blatant double standards but there you are !

Creationist logic:

Anything science has developed that makes the TV work is great science. Any question that remains unanswered by science is proof of the inextricable complexity of the real world, thus proof there is a god. It makes life real easy, the creationist doesn't have to seek answers to the unanswered questions, just sit back and watch Jessica on TV and wait for the rapture.

Exactly...

jay_a2j wrote:Oldest stone on Earth? No one knows.

Correct, but how did they date the oldest stone that they know of? I believe it was found in Greenland(?).
That's what I was asking.

jay_a2j wrote: The current dating methods require us to "take their word" for it.

No Jay... I have to "take your word" that your name is Jay. I have to take Jesus's word that he is the son of God. I have to take the word of the guy who wrote it that God told him the earth was made in 7 days.
The difference you see, is that Radio dating will be explained to you, scientifically if you wish. THere's no "taking their word for it," it's learning. And that's what I want you to do here. I'm pretty sure someone has 'gotten you.'

jay_a2j wrote:And they do not KNOW if they are accurate.

Yes, they do Jay. Otherwise, how would you know that Carbon-14 is innaccurate after a few thousand years?

jay_a2j wrote:And we can't "prove" them wrong, so they run with it.

Same as you with "God did it?"

i really can't believe that we are still beating this dead horse. wow

i give the athiests props though. i say it takes more faith to believe in the evolutionary theory then creation. it's much easier to say God did it because it's hard to believe that is no god. it takes so much faith to believe all these things that you guys believe. it's like saying "i believe because i told myself it's true!" wow.

It is indeed far easier to just believe God did it.

It doesn't make it true though.

You never answered my questions for you, you big dummy.
It takes infinite more faith in what you believe, and you know it. Because there is absolutly no evidence to back you up. You literally make it up as you go along. Furthermore, everything you believe sounds retarded to the average ear. "T-Rex ate coconuts, chilled with Adam, and sank deep in the mud during the great flood." I give you zero props, for acting silly. Even you know that what your saying is retarded, you just want to believe it so badly that you put your common sense on hold.

I don't care though, because I can see that original bit of Athiesm growing inside of you.

packrat31306 wrote:i say it takes more faith to believe in the evolutionary theory then creation.

No it doesn't. Because we have evidence, and your side blatently lies.

packrat31306 wrote:it's much easier to say God did it because it's hard to believe that is no god

Yeah... It's a hard thing to get over. But that doesn't make it the truth.
Took me a while to finally let go, even though I had some real doubts for a while. Just like you said, it's easier to believe, and not worry about your fate. But this is also where I see you beginning to wake up.

packrat31306 wrote:it takes so much faith to believe all these things that you guys believe

No. Just no... And you know that you can see that.
packrat31306 wrote:it's like saying "i believe because i told myself it's true!" wow.

That's exactly what you are doing, and you know it. You have nothing to base your claim off of. We can dismiss anything that you throw at us. And I have.
