Most influentual people of the decades (so far)

Post by brooksieb »

Sorry if you've already posted but i've decided to sort this out by doing this in a decadely order.

30's: Mohatma Gandhi

40's: Adolf Hitler

60's: Martin Luther King

80's: Mikhail Gorbachev?

90's: Slobodan Milosevic

00's: Osama Bin Laden

Some decades i've missed out on because i can't decide or if i've done a question mark it is under question by me.

If not Osama, as I said that in the other thread, then here are the others:

W. Bush
Obama
Dalai Lama
Kim Jong-il

What does that mean, "of the decades?" This is an unquantified duration of time. How about King Henry the 8th, who broke England from the Catholic Church... or that one guy, whats his name? You know, the dude that discovered fire. Jimi Hendrix was pretty influential too.

So Jesus died 2000 years ago and they are still putting him on lists. The question was who was most influential for a particular decade. I think that Lenin had much more influence after his death. In fact, people still read his "What is to be done."

But if you want to be anal:

20's: Vladimir Lenin

30's: Woody Guthrie

40's: Mao Tse-Tung

50's: Amil Cabral / Che Guevara (revolutionaries in Africa and South America respectively)

60's: Martin Luther King

70's: Ho Chi Min

80's: Pablo Naruda (Chilean Poet)

90's: Rigoberta Menchu Tum (feminist activist among indigenous people of South America)

00's: Hugo Chavez (President of Venezuela)

This is your problem: you are thinking too much :!: :!: It is hard to be influential if you are dead, let alone the most influential person of the decades. OK, 1/3 of the surface of the Earth was covered in 30-s by portraits of grim brothers (Marx-Lenin-Stalin) but I gather only the youngest one had any real influence

It is even more puzzling what makes you put so many politicians on your lists, half of them I have never heard of... Are you nazi-commi-liberal or what?

Let us compare our nominees for the current decade. How many times did you use google this week and how many times were influenced by Hugo CHavez? How does it make Chavez more influential than Brin? #-o

Duh, look them up if you don't know who they are.

20's: Vladimir Lenin

30's: Woody Guthrie

40's: Mao Tse-Tung

50's: Amil Cabral / Che Guevara (revolutionaries in Africa and South America respectively)

60's: Martin Luther King

70's: Ho Chi Min

80's: Pablo Naruda (Chilean Poet)

90's: Rigoberta Menchu Tum (feminist activist among indigenous people of South America)

00's: Hugo Chavez (President of Venezuela)

Chavez and Rigoberta are very influential in the world outside the insular United States teen circuit. Rigoberta won a Nobel Prize. Broaden your horizons a bit.

Hey, I have nothing to do with USofA and I was a teen when Lenin was alive ;) I have nothing against Rigoberta but the size of her wiki page does not really justify your positioning her as the most influential person of the 90-ies. But don't give me any shit about peace Nobel prise. I cannot think of a more disgusting award...

Besides, try to argue against my case that Brin is more influential than Chavez...

Broaden your horizons a bit beyond latino communist politics

Admittedly id have to say Brin is pretty influential.
