ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT

I am organizing an ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT for 24 participants. The Tournament will be played across all 88 maps (as of 4th July 2008). The 24 players will be split so that there are 4 games of 6 players each round. The groups will be changed every 11 games. The Maps are being played in order, but starting from Africa, so Classic is the map for the final round. The maps played will be the same for all the groups, so by the end everyone will have played on all the maps. The settings for all games will be: Standard, Freestyle, Flat Rate, Chained, Sunny. At the end the player with the most wins will win overall. In the event of two or more players having won the same number of games, they will play a tiebreak.

I will accept entries by this thread or by PM, and I will accept a limitless list of reserves, who will be used in order of date entered. I will post again with participants and reserves, and a third time with a list of games and their settings. I will not announce the results until the last games finish, to stop people from deadbeating just because they can't win.

You get 3 days to join a game, from when I create it - after that you are out of the tournament and you are replaced by a reserve. If you PM me beforehand, I will give the game one less slot, so you won't play the game but you won't be replaced.

If a reserve joins part-way through they will get 1 point for every full 6 rounds completed. For example, if a reserve joined in Round 19, they would get an automatic 3 points. This is to make things fairer for reserves, and seeing as the straight odds of a player winning each game are 1 in 6, its also fair for players already playing.

Freemies are welcome but must have 1 slot open AT ALL TIMES, starting from when you sign up.

Doesn't matter Gilligan, because there will be 4 games per round, so even if it means sacrificing my casual games, I'll still be able to run it. Oh, and also Gilligan, are you in or out?

Updated all the lists.

plurple, the only reason I picked adjacent is because it is more traditional (original Risk uses it) and realistic - in real life you can't expect troops to travel half-way round the globe very fast. However, current editions of Risk use the Chained rule, and it is about as realistic anyway, so I'll change the settings. That way there's a sort of middle ground between pace and tradition/realism.
