I played my dad's trial version back in the Windows 95 days, how old was I then, 8? It was fun to do the pissing emote.
I played it on the Super Nintendo.

I approve. The first Silent Hill was nuts.

These Wiki-genres are somewhat limited, but I couldn't name just one game.
Action: R-Type (MSX) / Half-Life (PC)Action-adventure: Metal Gear 1 & 2 (MSX) / Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PC)Adventure: LucasGames/LucasArts stuff back when the force wasn't with them (Monkey Island 1 & 2, Day Of The Tentacle, Indy 3 & 4, etc.)Construction and management simulation: Sim City 2000 (PC)Life simulation: N/ARole-playing: Dragon Slayer series (MSX) / Diablo (PC)Strategy: Eggerland 2 (MSX) / Civilization (PC)Vehicle simulation: Road Fighter (MSX) / Stunts (PC)Never had any consoles myself except for the recent purchase of a PS3 (I
had to play GTA 4 and MGS 4), so I won't list any console games (although gems like Super Mario Kart (SNES) come to mind).

Man, some classics there. If I wasn't a big fan of that kind of stuff I probably wouldn't have heard of them.
Good call with Monkey Island 1 & 2 though, we need to seriously consider some of the older adventures like Kings Quest, great stuff.

There is no arguement that Defender is the greatest videogame of all time - gameplay is everything.
