Post by Hoff »

My free 30 day trial for photoshop CS has expired. Which of the following would you suggest using to make a map? What did you use? What did you like or dislike about it?

Fireworks 30 day free trial.
GIMP Free, open source.
Google's 'Picasa' Free download.
Fireworks 30 day free trial.
Illustrator 30 day free trial.
Inkscape Free, open source.
Photoshop CS2 30 day free trial.

thanks for the help!

Hoff,

If you are starting from scratch or working from a map like some of the ones at wikipedia that are vector based (usually in .SVG format) then I would recommend Illustrator. Otherwise I'd use Inkscape.

Picasa is barely an image editor, its a good photo and image sorting progam, but its editing capabilities are limited
