Post by teknochild »

dont know if its been suggested, but on the offchance it hasnt, any chance of having games w/ a short round timer like 5-10 minutes

that way people who know there going to be at their pc for an hour or so can log in and start up a game w/ fast play

I think maybe even one player should have this option. I played a RT game last night - trust me those who haven't done it - try it. Great fun and intense :) It started at 9.30pm and finished at 11.30. 30 mins more and I need to hit bed - regardless of who else says yes to switching back to RT, so I would have had to deadbeat if no agreement was reached.

Alternatives - set the game time, so for example the creator says game will go on for X hours realtime, after which it will change to 12 or 24 hours (I like 12 hours!)

Any one player can change game back to non normal rt - sure that could be irritiating, but feedback is for if its abused.

I also wonder if a reverse button could be used, so you're all playing a 12/24 hour game and agree to get together. If all players click realtime game goes to realtime mode - again a button allows any player to change it back to normal

Faster Game

Post by Meister »

Any chance we can make it an option to have a shorter lead time for players to take their turns. IE: you could chose that instead of having 24 hours between turns you could choose 8 hours for instance. This would lalow those that prefer to take turns more frequently play in a agme thta has more live action as opposed to waiting a full 24 hours.

true they give u this much time just in case people are very busy and if people were to join 8 hour turn games than if they were extremely busy that day they would possibly miss a turn

8 hours means you can't sleep!!

I think 24 hours and 10-15 mins work well. Not so sure about anything in between.

Speed Games are coming in 2007!

You just have to take naps throughout the day to make sure you can always play conquer club.

I can see it now: Sitting at your computer desk with a cup of coffee, fading in and out of consciousness....frantically waking up to refresh the site, and then dozing off again if its not your turn.

I guess it wouldn't be such a problem if the notifier adds an audio alert- then you could just wear headphones to bed and wake up periodically to take your turns

Anyway, I agree with lack- the 24 hour turns work best for normal CC style games, and anything shorter than that needs to be a few minutes so you can play real time more effectively.

well when you play the real board game do you give your opponents 24 hours to take their turn? so all I am suggesting here is that if there are those thta would prefer a live-play game then thta should be an option. So I like lack's suggestion to have a 10-15 minute window which will create speed games in live time.

Thanks all for your feedback, Meister

well as he said, speed games are coming...

the only thing I hate is sequal 6 player games...
that can take a week to make a few turns
2 players miss their turns = 2x24 = 48 hours.
2 players are slow = 2x16 = 32 hours
1 player are fast = 3 hours

48 + 32 + 3 = 3.5 days

I start, then it takes 3.5 days before I can move again, and then 3.5 days again...
it is a bit too slow for me... so there should be some more options for seq games.
I could say something interesting, but I wont

I think an 18 hour turn around could speed it up a little. So if a player gets it just as he goes to bed then he'd have todo the turn 6 hours before he hits the sack the next night (assuming the same time). If it came in during the day then 18 hours should be more than enough time. Any less and it gets unmanageable.

Tals

** hmm not sure if an 18 hour turn around even works with that scenario :( I think 24 hour is the best you can hope for on a sequential game. The only possible solution is freeplay - at the moment its down to he who keeps track of the game the most and IMHO doesn't work well, if someone could come up with a solution...

Options

Post by Blitzaholic »

Yes, great ideas, it should be considered an option, and labeled so all players know what they are joining before they join a game, example:

24 hours, 12 hours, 8 hours, real time, just like

escalating, chained, adjacent, no cards, etc.

awesome idea for all who suggested this!

The staff doesn't make the maps, the users do.

The latest updates lack has issued have all been geared toward things that people want (the auto attack button was a biggie, easier site navigation from forum to my games etc, new faster and powerful server, etc) All have been very good updates in my opinion. Beyond that, you are right to say different time options are one of the bigger user requests, and lack/andy have said a bunch of times that it will be coming fairly soon in 2007. Actual real time games will improve the site a lot, and give people something they feel they've been missing out on.

Round Time an Option

Post by Sammy gags »

i think it would be pretty if when u were starting a game u could set up ur own time limit per round, like if u wanted a rt u could set it as 20 mins or if u just wanted a normal game u could keep it at 24 hours

I agree, but it would be visible to everyone who signs up, and I don't think it should be more than 24 hours, only less.
