I sacrifice a virgin once a month, so far it has worked.

Fruitcake wrote:If I 'feel' that my attack may go against me, I wait and keep refreshing. Once the clock shows just less than 59 minutes left, I roll, just once, and then I come out of the game, click on the forum, then click on my games, go back in the game and start the rest of the attack.

I have no idea how this has evolved, but I know it started when I had a terrible run at the end of '07 and went from a Captain to a Private 1st class and never seemed to manage a single good dice roll (it was then I started the No Dice games thread in sugs and bugs). At this time, I found by waiting for a minute after the deployment, the attacks didn't seem to go so badly. The rest of the process....well I don't know, but then I am the man who only ever backs 5/8/11 and 26/29/32 on the roulette table because I think they are luckier for me!

Another 'odd' thing I do, if the attack is vital and close, is stare very intently and grit my teeth when the dice are rolling on the screen in the vain hope that by concentrating on the screen I will, somehow, have an effect on the result....

Lastly, if about to commit to a large assault, I will set my troops, then leave the room, go and make a Pot of English Tea (and biccis, normally hobnobs or some such, natch) set it all up in a particular way on the tray, take it back to my Study, pour the first cup, stir slowly, take the first bite of my bicci then sit down and start the assault. If the assault is particularly long, I always then take a Cigar from the Humidor on my desk, light it slowly (mid assault) and continue.

Oddly, since I started these weird and wonderful procedures, my score has risen from 1047 to its present 2950, so I ain't about to stop them, even though my mathematical and utterly logical brain is screaming out to me that I am completely off my trolley!

I will usually attack, like 5 or 6 vs 3. If I don't at least take out one of the 3 on the first attack, then I will end my turn. And on my next turn, no matter the game, my dice rolls are much better.
"Eh, whatever."

Always, ALWAYS attack Siam from Indonesia if you have a choice between that and New Guinea. Unless it's the first Monday of the month or Brandon Fraser is guest-starring on any NBC sitcom in the following week.

I smear strawberry jam on my nadgers, sit on a red ants nest, open my laptop, log on to CC.

The biting ants, the nasty stinging biting ants. - Oh, how they take your mind off the Dice.

omg im addicted to the auto attack. I figure if It's worth attacking once, then it's worth attacking until I'm down to 3 or 2.

Plus i don't have the patience to sit for like 5 minutes pressing attack when its 100 vs 65

In Madness, if you hold Lack and Wicked, you get a +3 continent bonus in the 13th round of the game.

... I bet they change that now that they're fighting... :-k

If I get a string of bad rolls, I do a feint with the mouse and click near the attack button in hopes that the bad dice gremlin will try to spoil my faked attack. Then I quickly click on the attack button and try to sneak one through while the gremlin is still off balance. It also helps to do this arrythmically so the gremlin has a much harder time anticipating your moves.

Absolutely none, in fact I don't even really think about what I'm doing. I try to think about something else as I take my turns, then focus once I'm done.

P.S. to all those discussing auto attack you can thank me for that feature ;)

Don't take turns drunk ( I should listen to my advice more regularly)

Also, don't take turns when you have just woken up (once again, should listen to this screwed up a won 8 player on classic by missing out alaska when barely awake)

Not really superstitions just advice.

When I get bad dice, I like to take a break for a few minutes in hopes the generator streaks back the other way. To kill time I do different things. Use visine and clear the eyes. Sometimes light a candle. Fiddle with iTunes. Check out the forums and post in threads like this.

Supposedly, the human brain emits an electromagnetic discharge, that has been proven to effect electronic equiptment.

When I really need some good dice... I'll use the telepathy.

:ugeek:

very rarely, and I dont believe it at all.. but sometimes, you just gotta give it everything.

There's only one thing that ever works for me, and that's whenever I have a 1 on 1 game sittng around and I keep hitting 'Active Games' to refresh the page, and no one ever joins, as soon as I go to the Awaiting Players page, someone joins my game...works everytime!

In the middle of an escalating run, if I start losing a lot, I'll stop and watch a comedy show (Fawlty Towers usually works) then come back and roll outrageous dice (I won 3v3,2 for a kill, and two 2s killed a 4 another time).
If I'm watching someone else try to kill me (usually in a speed game), I'll listen to (and shout lines from) Charge of The Light Brigade. "Into the valley of death rode the six hundred".
If I've got a choice between two places to attack with no convincing difference, I'll hit the one with more vowels. Unless I'm playing in Iberia or Malta, then I go for the most accents.
If I'm playing flat rate and about to end my turn with a possibility of two different sets, I'll do a drumroll and yell the colour I want for a mixed set as I hit end.
I also used to do things involving Free Rice and the 1812 Overture, but those were rather involved and the requirements haven't come up in a while.
