Aren't rankings to show skills??
Not at all. Just because you win 6 doodle speed assassin games in a row does not make you as good as your rank would show. Or Klobber?

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
Personally, I don't think ratings and feedback matter terribly either way. People can play risk without them. Really, as Iffy Boatrace said, if a player is an ass, put them on your foe list.
One problem with the new system though, is that even when you explain to someone exactly why they got a poor rating, they still don't understand why they would deserve 2 stars (the horror!), and continually badger you every opportunity they get. With feedback, the comment is self-explanatory. So, in a choice between the two, unmoderated feedback would be my preference. If someone cares enough to check someone's feedback and then not play them because of what one player said, they would probably check the game in question, which would validate of invalidate said feedback. Thereby, moderation is unnecessary.
One idea that I like a lot would be the missed turn counter. I don't think any sanctions should be imposed based on an arbitrary number of missed turns, but it would be useful to know.

People do change.
The old feedback system allowed you to delete or edit your feedback left as well. However, the old system would let you leave a negative comment for a very bad game with that person, while at a later date leaving a positive comment about a very good game you had. Now whenever you change your rating, it alters the rating you gave for any previous games you played with that person.
You could only edit until comments were archived .. usually about a week, not all that long.
You could ONLY give one positive, so you could not go back and say "hey, this person goofed up once, but overall is not so bad".
I don't necessarily like that old feedback is completely erased, but it is probably better than someone being condemned for the rest of thier CC "life" because they had a computer issue in their first week. Or even were a jerk initially. People change. (they might have misunderstood rules or maybe they "grew up" a bit).

Why not wack one dollar on everyone's premium, and hire a feedback mod?

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
Lack, this is a great site!!
I don't care what kind of feedback system there is...
I think the ignore list is the best way to play on this site...
I think people should find out about other players on their own, and if they don't like something, they should just put them on ignore and move on!!!
Yes, people deadbeat! There have been things that have happened that have made me deadbeat, for example, A storm and my connection goes down. Emergency that keep me from the game. and just life in General...
Maybe there could be something that just shows the number of games not finished.
As far as feedback, its useless for me, because it's all a matter of opinion! yes, some people are bad sports and whine in chat! oh well... Get over it people..
I don't leave negative feedback, only good, and I will give everybody five stars! because it's not all that important!
If I don't like the way someone plays, they go on ignore...
I don't have anyone on ignore either!
Just fix the damn dice so I win every game and I will be supremely happy!!

The old feedback system was funny, interesting and informative. A self-managing organic apparatus. The detail and nuance it communicated can not be achieved with a number system.

If you check out some of the mentioned threads in the first post, namely "tags" and "written responses to tags" we hope to bring back some of the information and feel, without it being a burden on the website.

I haven't read this thread at all so sorry if this has already been mentioned, but if you give a rating, I think you should have to give a written response/reason.

so that needs to be adressed i think - i dont know a solution
From what I understand, the main point of the rating system is not what 1 rating can do to a player's image. To see the real effect of the rating system is necessary SEVERAL ratings ALONG THE TIME so as to get the general behavior of a particular player. From that perspective, in my humble opinion, the rating system is doing the job.

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
although i liked the other system, i think in the long run this new system will be the better system as it avoids the BS that went along with the old system. I would like to thank those responsible for CC and any type of ratings system, as most companies/business couldn't care less what everyone thinks and you all keep wanting input from all of us and that in my humble opinion helps immensely.

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
I think a modless written feedback will slove sevearl problems.
1. Mods wont have to worry about dealing with feedback.
- You can do this by having an autoresponse message such as suggs was saying.
- Have the hidden feedback trait that the new feedback system has (showing up 5 days later)
2. People can comment on the players strong points or weak points and talk abot what applies in that one game.
- Player A leaves a negative for player B saying "this player had no idea how to play the game and he had a bad attitude" or "this player swept me from the begining and he strong and very smart" (or whatever)
- It gives the players more of a power but still following set guidelines from the mods and CC
3. No one will be confused is 3 average or 4 or even 5.
- Written feedback is self explainatory.
4. People liking the new feedback wont lose much- they can get the same info from a written system.
- Yes, i admit a little harder but its there, all they want to know about a player.
5. PLayers will have a chance to defend themselves.
- Give a reason why they did this or whatever.
6. If you are worried about language and other abuses have 2 warnings for teh first two offenses then have penalties for futher mistakes.
- penalties such as point deduction, i think would be valid for repeated offenders
- banning or suspension if it gets very bad.
7. It will make a lot of people happy.
- A lot of loyal customers are being turned off by this new system.
- One commented here in this forum earlier and ive heard others
8. If people cant handle bad feedback then thats a problem for them. Do not accept any feedback complaints. No exceptions.
- As i said in a previous point suggs had a good idea having an auto response saying "Sorry CC does not any longer accept Feedback complaints. We encourage you to reslove the issue with the other player" or whatever.
These are my thoughts and im sure the thoughts of many others. Please if anyone has a problem with any of this say something. I think this will slove many many issues.

Anyone that thinks this is a good behaviour?
He gave me 0,7 because I gave him 4,3.

Lufsen75 wrote:ilarry wrote:Lufsen75 wrote:What do you mean by give me that feedback. I didnt suck in the game. I won 3 of 5. Give me words to why please.
It pretty simple. I've been rating everyone 5.0 now regardless if they deserve it or not; however, everyone that rates me down will also be rated down. You can cry somewhere else. You change my rating to 5.0 and I'll change yours.
If you are going to do that because I didnt give you 5,0 you are more than stupid. I dont give 5,0 if someone really deserves it anymore. And in my oppinion you where 4,3. That is far from those 0,7 you gave me just because you didnt get 5,0. Childish behaviour from you. If I play you again I will give you 1 in attitude, because you deserve it after your answer.

If there are written responses it should only be to 1's and 2's as everything else is not a negative mark.AndyDufresne wrote:If you check out some of the mentioned threads in the first post, namely "tags" and "written responses to tags" we hope to bring back some of the information and feel, without it being a burden on the website.

So, what is the Admins stance on written feedback. Sorry,to clarify, are they even considering it, or are they just ignoring what most people want.
I appreciate it poses probs for the mods, but there are ways round it.

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
I really miss reading written feedback - i want to know what someone thinks and why the left the 'ranking' they did. I think we're all intelligent to know who just had one bad day/game versus someone who chronically plays like an ass. Also, before I enjoyed reading positive feedback - good to know that someone appreciated the way I played.
Let's not throw the 'baby out with the bathwater'. Perhaps only allow deletes for swearing? Or, only allow 2 reviews per year per customer?
Bring written feedback back PLEASE!!

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
Three more points:
- liked the suggestion re posting number of times someone is on 'foes list' - that tells me much about whether or not I want to play with someone...
- written response offers a better opportunity for behaviour modification. Given the many different countries and cultures players come from, an opportunity to hear why another player is upset (or happy) with your play can help change the way people play...
- yes, perhaps I love CC too much - but occasionally i enjoy reading other people's feedback!!

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
I'm not sure that this system works. If some one does not like you for whatever reason they can really screw you up on the points. It may not even reflect how you play more than how he or she feels at the end of the game. They may get a rawl deal from the dice and take it out on you. On the other hand those whom you have played may not even leave a rating when you played well thus giving you a low rating when someone else drops your stars. If you have the Feedback then you can evaluate a little more clearer on both sides. If you combined the stars with the feedback I believe you will get a better value on a players skill level and make a better informed decision on choosing a friend or foe.
Maybe look into setting a time frame for someone to add their input on the stars. If they do not respone the score automatical adds a the 5.0 to the stars and feedback adds gg. This will have others respond in a timely manner to add the stars with feedback to get a true statment. This will help balance the stars by keeping a record of everyone you have played.
I'm not sure what needs to happen but this I know Feedback should stay!

Re: Ratings Reloaded - Community Consultation
I agree; with the relative ambiguity of the stars, it is easier for a player to take out petty grievances and imagined slights on opponents. No longer can players take calculated risks; failing to eliminate an opponent, only weakening him, seems to be grounds for receiving negative ratings.
