Map Popularity Statistic *Pending*

I was thinking that it would be very interesting to see a statistic of the popularity of diferent maps among the players of CC. Something like in the procentage of games played on every map in the last month or so. (not from the begining of the game since not all maps are here from that time).
So what do you think about this? I don't think it's a hard think to implement.

I like this idea - classic would be number 1 I guess - but would be interesting to see the percentage. If not for anything else, just for the curiosity - a map ranking system.

And also if there in some time to come becomes to many maps here at CC (for some reason), this could be an effective way to eliminate those maps least popular - not saying thats necessary now -
but if we a year from now lets say have 20-30 maps that might be to many (and not so popular maps would then maybe block any entry for new maps that could be popular)

I don't foresee that as being a problem, personally. I'd be happy to have dozens of different maps to choose from. On the other hand, a tag-based sorting system and maybe a personal favorites list wouldn't be bad things to think about...

Of course not, it's just that a month is a long enough period to base a statistic on, and it is short enough to hold most of the maps since their begining. Let's just say that in a month from the time a map apeares it will have the place it deserves on this ranking.

Just adding my voice to this request.

As a newb, I find myself wondering "What are the good maps?". I know classic from Risk and have stumbled across Alexander's Empire and found it to be good. But a most popular ranking as described in this thread would be really useful.

Well my personal favourites are Classic (because it is the original), World 2.0 (only because its so big - still haven't won on it!) and Middle Earth, Europe and Discworld (which nobody else seems to like) because I nearly always win on them).

Aye, popularity thing would be good but this is one huge "bump" - where did you drag it from?

What we need is a way to reorganize the maps

Maybe some options to have them shown in order of newest to oldest, oldest to newest, new maps, alphabetical, most popular, etc...
That would be great, as it is now, its confusing and often takes me a while to pick thru all the diff maps when all i want is oen of the new ones...
