Re: Forbidden City V1d [Building Map]

Post by cairnswk »

I have added extra gates to the three side and northern gates to open up the map for exits and entrances.
I could not find anything about secret passagesways out of the city, although there are many hidden rooms.
I may add two more attack routes to the Wu Gates at the south, but will have to re-arrange the outsiders somewhat.
Still building the inner Court areas also.

Finally, Version 2. It's up and running. Do you worst. Please refer P1 for all comments on design, features and gamplay.

There's a couple of things wrong with this large version which i will fix. But for now it's simply an upscale.

The doubles gates was a good idea. Too bad you couldn't find a secret passage, that would seem to help offset things nicely. My brain is kind of tired but I'll try and take a longer look later today or tomorrow. best.

Yes, i was a bit disappointed also, there probably is one or two...they usually didn't build these places unless there was an "out" somewhere not so apparent. But it probably hasn't been discovered yet, and got lost over the passage of time.

It's pretty cool the Idea and hope it will work fine, but I found the graphics a little sad and with few contrast... Don't like dose thin corridors pretty much as well... But I'm here to support and to help if needed :D

which corridors are you speaking of? on the outside or the inside. If on the inside, then that's the way the place is made. If you have suggestion then please make it. I was going to see if dragons begins the connection would work on the outside but don't know about that yet.

The map is a great idea, but I have to agree with what gimil said earlier. The colors hurt my eyes just to look at. I could never play on this map.

Can those who are voting for the dragons, determine the borders easily?

I just voted for lanterns because of that. before even seeing your post that was my thought. Dragons look cool but a little too ambiguous as territories.

votedfor lanterns because they're much cleaner, easier to identify the territs, and i didn't think the dragon looked all that convincing or cool

yes i was thinking that also, but i thought it was worth putting out there.

Aw ...Stanza....they would've been cool, but you're right that are easier to identify and this was my first ever dragon and wasn't going to put too much effort into it if it went down. Thanks anyways for comments guys.. :)

I vote for lanterns also. It just fits better imo. Also - are you dead set on that territory font? It's okay, but a little hard to read some on monitor. See what others think I guess.

No, not dead set on that font but it is the 50th font i have tried on this map to fit the terts. i simply thought it fit the theme better.

It fits the theme for sure. I can live with it, and can read all the territs, just a little blurry in some spots.

I voted for lanterns because the dragons are not clear enough, however, I feel you could do something to make the lanterns less bland-looking. I didn't even realize they were lanterns until the poll .

I agree that the font is a bit hard to read, but if you've been through 50 fonts already, searching any longer might not be worth it.

I'm going to say dragons, as they're still China-appropriate, and they declutter what I view as very cluttered map. Also, putting some text effects on the font could help with the general readability (also a major concern of everyone).

I can't resist the dragons -- they're so awesome, especially compared to those boring lanterns.
