Dude, none of the people I've played since the new rating system was enacted was "average" in any way. They all warranted 5's in each category, and so I gave them all 5's. That is not abuse, it is fair rating.

I believe the point that is being made is that anyone who just blankets with 3s is no less an abuser of the system, they've just chosen a different number to give everyone. In your eyes it's a safer number and likely more accurate more often but that doesn't justify the means.

One more thing in regards to all 5's. Since this is a new system, it is quite possible that people, like me, have gone through the recently finished tab and 5ed up players that they play lots of games with and enjoy playing games with. 3,4,5 what's the difference?

actually the difference is everything between a normal player and a fucking brilliant one, however due to mass abuse, there is no way you can tell whether a player is good or bad. congratiolations.

The funny thing is that there are these little icons next to a players name that, in fact, do a halfway decent job of letting you know if the player is good or bad. They're called ranks. Perfect system? No, but not a bad one.

Ratings are for behavior. Ranks are for skill. Two flawed but generally useful systems. Boy, seems really simple, I don't understand why this really basic concept is so hard to grasp.

because the ratings aren't usefull. the moderaters invented this system so they didn't have to moderate it anymore. but now they left us with total bullshit because now the rating is just nothing more than a random star generator.

Exactly, the binary nature of the previous system allowed for MUCH better At-A-Glance assessment. It would be better if there were two ratings : GAMEPLAY and SPORTSMANSHIP (or GAMESMANSHIP) At least then the true fektards would rise (or rather sink). yes that's exactly the point, everyone will have 4's or 5's or something in between (4.5/4.3/4.6, whatever) and there will be no way to tell if someone is any good or not. so hurray we're all excellent and noone is 'average' (wow CC has a godlike community then if we're all that good ) and the whole rating system is nothing more then a bunch of people with 4.5 stars or so, and it does nothing more then showing *4.5 because the numbers don't have any meaning at all, since averone has pretty much the same rating. hmmm what a waste of time.. you can't even read a comment with that.
