Though I would temper my analysis by saying it was a major cause of the war, along with fed vs states, and the closing of the continent.
I like Obama.
Aye, but then where would the Yanks be without being able to adulate their hero Lincoln and have a warm fuzzy feeling inside about how although they heartlessly oppressed gazillions of negroes, they then fought an extensive war to free them so it's all OK in the end.
Will you seriously vote for 100 years in Iraq? And Reverand Wright is just ludicrous. 20 years ago, some guy who's Obama's friend said some things that some bigots find offensive. So that's suddenly a scandal to Obama's name? And do you want to keep dead end jobs for medical care, or pay outrageous premiums unheard of in any other 1st world country?

As I've pointed out earlier, we're still in Japan, and I'm sure we'll reach 100 years before pulling out. He doesn't mean we'd fight there for 100 years, even the neo-cons must recognize that that would be a lost cause. Personally the only good reason to pull out of Iraq at this point that I've heard is that the budget can't handle it. I hope we do at least reorganize our medical though, Medicare is dragging us only further into debt.

I will not could not ever vote for Obama the list of reason are too long to list but I willl go into a few.. he's black! he's black! HE'S FRIGIN BLACK!
Well, at least you are honest.
THE DEBATE IS OVER...

No, I mean, we are in Japan now. There are still troops there now. We haven't left, so it wouldn't be unrealistic to say we stay there for 100 years.

I suppose that as an athiest I can't really draw the connection, but let me ask you: Do you agree with everything your pastor says? If you answer yes I have next to no respect for you. That was the church that Obama grew up with, and his pastor was likely his father figure throughout a good deal of his life. The fact that he stuck with him for so long despite the potential risks of doing so says mountains more than if he had thrown him on the wayside as soon as things got tough. Hell, I wouldn't vote for someone whose personal ties have that little substance, it indicates to me that they care about nothing but power. The same goes for that racist preacher that endorsed McCain. Who cares? Jesus, let me break this down. If you're looking at a candidate, you should look at one of two things. First off, examine their policies. Second, examine their personal character. What you don't do is look at people vaguely connected to them, dig out their personal history, and smear their name. That sort of politics is disgusting and should be reserved for the sort of people that give half a shit about what Britney Spears is doing. I have some qualms about Obama's policies, but I have so far seen no reason to distrust his character.
This thread was won right here. If Obama has ditched his preacher at the first whispers, he woudl have been labelled fickle by the same people attacking him in this thread. Like firg said, strength of character. We'll see how he does in the election campaign.
Although I'm not surprised someone called 'Dixie' is so opposed to a black president.

jay, if you are going to quote someone, quote what is said instead of putting in your own words and insinuations in order to make yourself look smart or funny.
Wow! it is amazing how long this thread has gotten since yesterday.
there is something to be said about diversity and democracy. I think everyone has a right to their opinion.
different strokes for different folks. It is true to say that some will not vote for Obama because of his color. There are others that are loyal to the Clintons that is another reason.
patriotism is what you make of it. I for one love my country. I can't even begin to think of any other place I'd rather be.
Then, the question would be? where do i go if things go wrong? there really is nowhere to go.
Is it any wonder why immigrants come here. it would be awesome if some actually became citizens though.
Yes, I am a gun toting, blue collar worker. my values are ones that I pass down to my sons and hope that they will pass along to their children. I believe in take what you want and leave the rest because we are all individuals and we have choices. I believe in my country, G*d and my family.
I try to do the best i can to help others with the hopes that sometime, somewhere they too can help someone else in need. even if it's just carrying someones groceries up a flight of stairs. a half a sandwich to a hungry person or even a smile and a hug to someone who has lost hope.
But, i will never vote for a closet socialist just to tow the party line.

There is rather a massive amount to be said, surely? Aren't these the principles your country was founded on?

I don't want to sound uncharitable, but where does your opposition to universal healthcare tally with this caring, sharing thing? What about the people who have lost hope because their health insurance premiums are too high cos they're too ill? Or who can't get insurance at all, because of a pre-exisiting condition? or who are keeping a family together and can't afford to prioritise their own health? Oh wait - they're all freeloading layabouts, stealing your hard-won tax dollars just cos they get sick. God bless the USA, and god bless grabbing all you can and screw the rest.

WOW, You're pretty misinformed.
... Pretty typical member of the BHO crowd, actually.
.... you know what ... Obama could pull this off i think ... after seeing the turnout from the other day.... did you see those lines? passion of the voter has a lot to do with things....and i'm starting to think Obama just might ... if the moons align ... be able to be our next president !
history teaches us that black voters just don't turn out in the numbers they could compared to their population . ... facts show us the swing states that are worth the most contain what? very large urban areas correct? so... facts also show us that urban areas are predominately populated by African Americans ...this is simply fact ... now, don't think of it as one big national election.. think of it as 50 individual elections ... if the "passion" of the young and well... i guess all black voters really... is ignited in just a few key swing states ... and of course, it could happen after i saw that mile long line in a place that couldn't be any more white lol we may just have our president elect Obama ... the black vote can be considered the "sleeping giant" in America and if awoken it could really make a difference here .... look at the states worth the most points! they all contain very large urban areas ..... oh dear lol will black America unite and show up in record numbers ? This is probably the most intense election in our nations history ! But don't forget .... technically no one has won anything till the convention .... if you really wanna split hairs !
oh and has anyone read Michelle Obama's Princeton Thesis on Racial Divide? .. lol good lord ....
"How do you like that? Even among misfits you're a misfit!"
K jay,,you want to insert something I didnt say into my post..a little silly but whatever
So funny that its the Obama supporters who bring up the race card, you dont have to point out the obvious by saying hes black, because hes a half-breed is what he actually is,God made us all so I dont hate him just dont like the idea of a man who has little to no experience, who strays so far from my beliefs,he says YES!WE CAN!,,we can what? look forward to a closet socialist who may very well take down the flag and pass out the Koran?we can look forward to someone who wont know there ass from a hole in the ground but lets elect him because hes black oh yes lets make a point and elect the first black man to be president even though he has no military background whatsoever,no loyalties to Israel ,no plan to deal with the immigrants that continue to flood us and take jobs and pay no taxes and send the $$$ home so more illegals can invade us and take more jobs and the people that do what they are supposed to do and are from here pay taxes to support them.Yes!We can!No I cant! I WONT! McCain isnt Bush, its that simple, and I am praying all the Hilary supporters will change parties, hoping all the women will see that by electing Obama it wont be long before we are walking 3 steps behind covering ourselves head to toe, sound crazy?IT IS crazy beyond wacked, the man spent his life listening to hate, listening to how the white man has done his people wrong being told that jews are bad, been told we can overcome,OK well what happens to the rest of us when he does?He has denounced the other half of his heritage, the white side,he chose to marry a darky,go to a black church, embrace that life,so I am not allowed to embrace my heritage?I am also a half breed if you will hell we all are in some form,so for now, until he is elected I have the right to voice my opinion, and we can look at it this way noone has an excuse to complain,we all vote see what happens and deal with it then thats all we can do,someones gonna be happy and then the other half can complain for 4 years,I only want whats best for this country and my children who have to grow up here,I dont care if the bastard is purple I just want someone who is looking out our best interest not someone who is loved by our enemies,I may wrong on this but when you have Islam Extremist backing you and for all we know funneling $$$ thats not a good thing.you got one thing right jay Im honest and I wont be voting for Obama because hes black and not to keen on white folk.middle america who wants to cling to there guns?OK that works, hes anti-American that works too,he wont know what the frak hes doing, another reason, hes not my choice is all,if he is yours go out and vote,VOTE VOTE VOTE AND SAY NO TO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DIXIE wrote: hes a half-breed is what he actually is
I'm not willing to judge a man based only on his choice of D&D character attributes.
Oh hang on... you were talking about his race when you said 'half-breed'? Wow, way to prove Jay's assertion that you might just be a massive racist, as being completely accurate.
DIXIE wrote:we can look forward to someone who wont know there ass from a hole in the ground but lets elect him because hes black
Who says lightning never strikes twice? Looks like you just earned your second "I'm a big fat racist" point right there...
DIXIE wrote:by electing Obama it wont be long before we are walking 3 steps behind covering ourselves head to toe, sound crazy?
Actually no, I'm not a big fan of Kool-Aid...
Seriously, where do you even go to come up with this kind of junk? Can you give me any factual backing for that claim at all? Or is it just more racism and xenophobia?
Yes, that was a rhetorical question. Glad you noticed.
DIXIE wrote:he chose to marry a darky

Why don't you just drop the N-bomb and get it off your chest already? I mean, that's what this is building towards, right?

...aaaaaand there it is.
By the way, there's some guy calling himself the 'Grand Wizard' on the phone, says he wants to speak to you? Something about recruitment I think.
