Re: The Era of the Three Kingdoms - Page 4
gimil, either completely go with the first type of name that is more recognisable, or go back to original one as at the moment the name thing looks crap half half.
the escalating bonus' are good and most bonus' are pretty well done but central wei should be worth 6. There are so many teritorys and it was alos the place in 3k china with the most people with huge citys like xia pi, chang an(wei capital 1), xu chang (wei capital 2) and then the heavily contested area of jie ting which shu conquered at one point before having to withdraw due to internal troubles, meaning they did not win the war by taking the lands of wei.
also lu ling and nan hai should be connected if we want realism, but if it may be to detriment of fairness as it would make southern wu worth even more, however it would be evened out if yue sui was split, and the cont worth 3 and central wei was increased by 1 bonus. then they would all increase by 1

Could you include a bonus for holding the capital cities of the three kingdoms?

Sorry for the double post, but the bonuses are a lot better. Seen to be a little bit more fair. I like the graphic a lot, really nice work on those.

Re: The Era of the Three Kingdoms - Page 4
you know, I've always liked this map gameplay wise. Gameplay is its strength right now.
Not sure I'm crazy about the graphics though. They aren't terrible, but the map is very very dark. I tend to avoid dark maps and I'm sure others do too. You've made a lot of progress with the lettering but the dark blue area in the top right is completely illegible to me. I also think that having the name of the one territory completely outside the territory without any connecting reference throws me off. It took me a few seconds to interpret that.
I don't know. I really like this map conceptually as I commented on when I first saw it. At least the territories need to be lightened whether that means a shading difference or using a background that brings out the light more I'm not sure.

i like this map. the graphics in my opinion are great. the only thing that i see right now is that the red chinese letter in the bottom is the lighter red. i think it should be the medium darkness colour.
i guess i also agree with seamusk about the names outside the territory completely. it does kinda throw you off. maybe make it just a little closer?
i like this set-up better than the one before.
(p.s.- i think this should get advanced soon...)

Agreed. Though some clarification about the bonuses is necessary - is the kingdom bonus inclusive of the region bonuses, or in addition?
seamusk wrote:Not sure I'm crazy about the graphics though. They aren't terrible, but the map is very very dark. I tend to avoid dark maps and I'm sure others do too.
This was my exact comment. I get that you're going for a darker, more ominous look than other maps - the dark ages of China so to speak. But you can use dark colors and still retain contrast and keep it visually engaging - right now it's not just dark, it's somehow dim - its as if you've use the same pastels we see on most maps but just washed them out a bit. Maybe that's it - the colors themselves aren't really "dark" colors - pink, sky blue, avacado - they're just muted versions of bright colors.
of course, this is coming from the colorblind CA, so you can tell me where to stick it.

I don't think it's too bad though - what makes it look dark is the dark/de-saturated text on the medium colors. If the font was adjusted, you wouldn't think it was dark.

Gimil, perhaps take come cues from Ancient Chinese art, and the colors that were used...and how they were used.

I agree that that is the right direction. Looks better. And legible!
EDIT for additional thought. As rocky mountain pointed out, they use a lot of yellow. I think that if you used yellow for the north instead of blue it would complete the feel.
Looks like you changed the background which I think had a big impact on how it looks.

Re: The Era of the Three Kingdoms - Page 3
Api-Yai is Yong Chang,
yueh sui is Yunnan and Jianti divided into two.
Tsang-ke is Zhuti.
pa-tung is Han Zhong,
wu-tu is yin ping
and Fu lin is Baxi and Ba dong (left-right)
Yong-an is Ba.
ok the prob with this map is that it only has the names of them not the borders of their provinces so u have to compare with your map
nan is jing nan
tung an is wuxing
Jianling is yu zhang
meanwhile Lin - Ch'uan is Lin Hai
so i dunno how u split yeuh sui and Fu Lin but its two terits
