Jay's kind of saying "There's a restaurant that's offering all you can eat for free next friday, you just have to phone and tell them you're coming, then show up."
Mirak's reply is "Screw that place and it's free food. If they wanted to give me free food they'd deliver."

Sounds like a pretty apt analogy to me.

Actually I am saying that the restaurant just isn't there...I'm sorry to disappoint you...but for those who believe it exists ...I'm pointing out that the menu, service, and quality is pretty poor...therefore by extention it cannot possibly be the undertaking of an infallible, all mighty, omnipotent being....hence such a thing does not exist...imho

Permit me to overextend the metaphor...
What about the people that get paid by this restaurant? Is there money coming from a shell account or by the actual restaurant.
And those that come away from the restaurant well-fed and happy, are the just deluded or have amazingly low standards?

The metaphor doesn't stretch that far 'cause you don't leave God's restaurant after you've gone in!
And no one gets paid. It's free food!

But what about support staff? Advertisers? Guys wearing sandwich boards on the sidewalk?
And if the people who believe in reincarnation are right, maybe we do leave the restaurant at some point.

The great thing about the restaurant is that its owner doesn't have to pay for its advertisers. There's people like jay who do it for free!

Yes you probably have overextended it and I shall continue...
Probably a bit deluded, but thats OK if they are happy and harmless...what they should'nt be doing is recommending the establishment in such absolute terms and totally ignoring all the food critics......and then telling you that you can't get in anyway unless you know the maitre'de
19"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23In hell,[c] where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
25"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
27"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
29"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'
30" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'
31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Moses was cool. His staff turned into a snake, he parted the red sea, and he managed to convince his followers during those 40 years in the desert that they weren't lost.
That's some cool stuff man!

The Krishnas's do a way better line in free food IMO. Better uniforms too.
