Instructions: How to Install BOB!

Post by misterman10 »

Just thought I'd make a helpful thread helping new users to get BOB. So, here's a quick guide to getting BOB. Enjoy!

Step 1: Get Mozilla Firefox
Click This Link and you will be taken to the Firefox home page. Simply click "Download Firefox". Follow the instructions and enjoy your new browser.

Image

Step 2: Download Add-On "Greasemonkey"
Click This Link and you will be taken to the Greasemonkey page. Click on the "Install Now" and follow the instructions to install.

Image

Step 3: Activate Greasemonkey
After installing the add-on, it will be necessary to restart firefox. Once you restart it, click on "Tools" at the top of the firefox window, and there should be the text, "Greasemonkey >". Click on that and then click "enabled" if it's not already done. You can also right click the monkey at the bottom of your window and check "enabled" there.

Step 4: Install BOB
Click This Link and you will be taken to the script homepage. At the top right of the page, theres a button labeled, "Install This Script". Simply click it and install BOB. It may be necessary to activate it manually. To check, simply go to "Tools", then "Greasemonkey >", and click Manage User Scripts. You can also do this by right clicking the monkey at the bottom of the window and clicking it there.

Image

In the Manage User Scripts window, there should be text reading, "Conquer Club- BOB". Highlight it, and at the bottom left corner, there is a checkbox labeled "enabled". Make sure its checked.

And there ya have it! You're BOB should be all set!
Note: If installing a new version of BOB, make sure to delete the previous script.

To keep up with the latest BOB updates, [http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91386]CLICKY![/url]
And if you want to find more add-ons to help your gaming experience, CLICKY!
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me (although I'm not really an expert), or you can PM yeti_c, the BOB master.

This should be stickyfied. You should also edit it to include the fact that other scripts can be installed the same way.

I think - Syntax error usually means your greasemonkey is disabled... ensure the monkey in the bottom corner is Brown and smiling.

I just installed BOB and it's VERY useful. Just 1 question. The armies' numbers on my map all have the same exact numbers right below them. What's this for/how do I turn it off?

You need to adjust the map align top. This is under "map options" on the left bar of the screen. The numbers scroll from 0 to 20 then reset to -20 and scroll back to 0.

Wow, that was easy. Thanks!
But I have to adjust it at the beginning of every game? Or is there a way I can make the new setting my default?

It's a "per map" setting... so once you've done it for all your maps - then it will be OK...

I can only assume you have a weird text size/res on your machine if they're consistently very off?

1280x1024 and my text size is on Normal. Not sure what's causing the issue bc those settings seem pretty common to me. The army numbers are just directly below the same army number, with no overlap.
ie.
4
4

Maybe it's one of my Firefox settings though. I haven't been able to see the die rolls either. And my map doesn't refresh as I advance. Help! :o
(For the record, it's refreshing better now that I dl'ed BOB, but I can still see the old army #s behind the new ones like BOB is right, but the game's map isn't updating. Also noteworthy, my cards don't show up at the end of my turn until I refresh.) This is probably an issue with a simple browser settings solution, but sadly, I'm not really all that bright with those details.

Do you have to refresh every move you make?

Sounds like you may have 2 scripts installed?

Right click on the monkey.
Choose "Manage User Scripts"
Uninstall all versions of BOB or ConquerClub Script.
Then reinstall the latest.
