ok here we go, i have 2 versions for you:

i generally played around with a few things on the map - minor details, but the differences in the 2 versions are:
version A&B have very slightly differing trees, shading and such on the left, only very slightly.
*ALSO* new mountain, just a try out - i only did 1 new mountain, and its the bottom right one. is that better than the previous mountains?
if so then ill make the others like that

Both of the tree samples look like hairy moss or some weird creature from the black lagoon sort of thing. There's too much roughness to them as it is. If you kept the same idea and made it a little smoother throughout, they'd be good trees.

perhaps if i blured the current ones so the colour would be more continuous??

bonus need a fix
antisaranana should be 2
mahajanga should be 2
toliara should be 3
fianarantso should be 5
antananarivo is fine
toamasina should be 3
graphics wise
like kaplowtiz said trees look to realistic. the last version i think looked better mountains in the north look cool
the ones in the south dont look that good
also have u put numbers on the army circs...sure they look cool but how legible will they be.

ok i'll edit things now...

keep the mountains the same (for now)
and add a blur effect on the trees and see what that turns out like

ok - i blured the trees more so they've lost a lil detail - hopefully making them look less realistic. i added the army circles as requested LoVo - maybe ill turn the army cirlces' ocpacity up a bit so theyre clearer,
i made the mountains as they were before - so i will need to find ways of making them better soon...
suggestions are welcome!

oh and p.s. LoVo - didnt change the bonuses that you suggested yet 'cause i havnt looked at them in great detail yet...i will soon.
p.p.s - having looked at the army #'s now - i think that its a definite that i turn the ocpacity up on the circles...

I agree with turning up the opacity on the army circles.

The jungles...hmm...I kind of like the southern one now, but the western one still looks bad. Not sure why, since they have the same effects on them. Not sure what to suggest to fix this, sorry.

Your A's look more like upside down V's to me, maybe zoom in and 'sculpt' the - between the two /\

what do people think to the idea of adding rivers OR replacing the mountains with rivers?
ide prefer to keep the mountains but what do you think?

they're both fairly geographically accurate, mountains more-so though

heres a map but for some reason it wouldnt let me view the image to get the tags, so go on this link and its basically the main thing on the page:

EDIT:
i think if i added rivers it would cause bad things 'coz ide have to add more of them making gameplay unfair, unless i added rivers which arent immpassable like on middle earth, or put bridges over them - but the map's already crowded

Congrats tom, this map really looks good and i love everything about it apart the colours. They appear drab and boring.

Also your impassables could be improved alot more. scour the foundry and see other peoples impassables and then if u like one try and contact them for help :D
