If this map turns out half as good as it sounds, it will still be one of the best on CC. This looks really good, even though it isn't finished. Even if you don't get permission, continue with this map. I can't wait to play on it.

Quicker? At the pace of the current foundry, its either slow or incredibly slow. Any new map idea won't come into play for months, at least this one is already half done.

You raise an extraordinarily valid point.

The problem is that all of CC seems to move at that glacial pace. I suppose the question is, which would happen first: you finishing a new map, or the map size restriction being lifted?

If you were to start on a new map, do you have anything in mind?

Well there is Epoch, which I could pick back up and fit into restrictions, and there is Skyscraper which is out of size bounds again.

The sad thing is that the most plausible on that list is also the least interesting. I mean, I have nothing against Epoch, I think it's an interesting concept and would be cool, but I simply like trojan war and skyscraper better. And Epoch, as you envisioned it, will probably take a year to complete...

Finish it dude... It looks fantastic, and if later on they allow it it would be ready to go.

I just looked up your epoch idea, and it also looks really good. Still, I suggest you pursue this Troy map first. This seems quicker and easier than Epoch and it will be a leading map in the new restriction sized maps. Once the size requirement is loosened, then you should pursue Epoch. That one would require so much work that if it isn't allowed it would seem a far greater waste than if this one isn't allowed.

Either way, no matter what you do, I'm sure it will turn out awesome and somehow you will make it work.

mibi, to help you along with continuing development on this astonishingly beautiful map, here are a few suggestions for the legend:

- Altar, not alter (typo)
- Haphaestus is the god of the forge. Considering that Troy is in the middle of a war and crafting weapons on a regular basis, perhaps he can attack any Troy territory? That may be a little bit too powerful considering the ease of getting him, perhaps any non-Troy town?
- Athena is the goddess of wisdom, having her around would help with training soldiers and warriors. I would advocate a conditional +1 autodeploy on all altars the player owns. XML isn't capable of doing this right now, but hey, you could ask for such a change.
- Apollo supported Troy during the Trojan War, helping them eventually strike down Achilles. +1 conditional autodeploy to Troy and/or surrounding territories.

Hope that helps with stirring the pot of ideas. Can't wait for you to bring this map further along.

thanks TaC, this map was created before the latest ronud of XML additions so I need ideas as to how to make the god powers be really cool and relevant to each god.

I agree with Rj - don't throw the idea out, but vacation it until it's a viable idea. Hopefully there will be changes down the road that allow unlimited map height, but it doesn't look like it will be soon.

And yes, the Foundry is indeed slow... but I don't think it's any slower than it has been for the past year and half that I've been around. My first map took four months, and that was with me pouring a lot of time into it. And maps that take three or four months these days come out a lot more polished than maps of a year ago.

Thought I would update it.

Changes:
1. added minimap with bonuses and continent names
2. added territory names.

discuss

I love the graphics, but I still don't see how this will fit within the map size restrictions.
Did I miss an explanation somewhere, or is the size issue still a problem?

mibi maybe we could stick to a basic map rather than the complex section in the legends? With this theme and these graphics I see hugh success coming out of this one if you where to keep it simple.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

The graphics are outstanding. As gimil said, I think you should try to squeeze this down to fit the size restrictions so we have a chance of playing this map.

Not to mention that some of the rules aren't possible without an XML update either...

The size restriction is still a problem, also, there will be no small map on this one, since the small map would still be too large so whats the point.

The gods and heros are essential to any Trojan War map. Plus the legend system is genius. You sacrifice your armies at an altar to a specific god and once you have sacrificed enough, the god lends his power to you.

No point in playing map with half of its potential just to play it.

I know. The rules were created before the last xml update so I can update or change most of them to suit. The only thing I would like to see is non-deployable territories.

That's the rule that doesn't work!! (That being said - it would be a nice thing to be able to have!)

The legends is genius but it seems a waste of potential success for a map that wont be around legal for a long time. Just my 2p's worth.

Its civil disobedience for a just cause. Surely you are not suggesting Rosa Parks should have sat at the back of the bus until the establishment got around to changing their own laws.
