delboy01 wrote:I have never seen a site with so much cheating going on. I think this is a direct result of the weak punishments handed out.
Multi's can re-gain membership by paying again, and can do so as many times as they like.
Players engaging in secret alliances are punished (if you can call it that) by being blocked from playing with each other. Whoopy doo!!!
What they can do is create new logons and continue to aid each other with the secondary or multi logons.
If people cheat to gain an advantage then they should be punished properly.
It should be made clear that a multi has one chance only to rejoin. If they repeat an offense then they should be banned permanently. IP numbers (and mac addresses) should be logged and anyone found to have joined after a second offense should have their account deleted if they re-join.
Secret alliances should be punished with a block and score reset. Any repeat offense results in the above punishment.
I play on a multitude of game sites and several have a no tolerance policy and ban at the first offense. So CC has a long way to go.
thank you.
PS. On one site it was found that most of those who were against such strong actions were later to found to have been cheating themselves.
I find more disturbing the fact that people are allowed to swear and say whatever they want with no consequences, just because we have the posibility to add them as foes and don't see what they write afterwards.
Re: A note to the moderators
The chess site I'm on has a list of those caught with their hand in the cookie jar and what offence they committed. As some are allowed to stay if they pay again this maybe a good idea to impliment on this site. It may also be a good idea for admins to post a feedback for users caught and the offence they commited. That may help to find repeat abusers.
Thanks for all your efforts chaps. It is appreciated.

What is the fucking problem with people saying what they damn well want? I fucking hate all of this motherfucking "down with free speech my ignore list is not enough" bullshit that flys around this fucking place some times.
And furthermore: f*ck.

Well I'd certainly think I'd got a busy day ahead of me... and one that spent an unusually large amount of time engaging in various forms of only marginally plausible sexual activity; but you'd be well within your rights.
Just like I would be well within my rights to tell you to get the f*ck out of my forum, crawl into an effluent-filled ditch and choke on rotting rat's corpses; you miserable and entirely inadequate excuse for a human being.
Not that I'm doing that or anything, just making sure we all know where the boundaries are.

I never said anything like that on a forum. And that post wasn't intented for you, just asking to see what you think about it. So it's ok, then I'll use the "add to foes" option.

Everyone else who is spamming this thread with stuff not related to the topic, expect PMs comin your way
As to the concerns - we bust a player an hour on average.
Yes they can "pay their traffic ticket" and get back in, but if they do it too often we do eventually block them for being real problems.
On the issue of secret alliances, it's often very hard to prove that someone is in a secret alliance, specifically because of the "secret" part. We have ways of being kinda sure, but we do also still live by the "innocent until proven guilty...for the most part" moniker and stripping points from someone who is innocent is a pretty rough stance to take.
We're constantly updating out hunting tools and methods, and cheating is one of our primary concerns (more than a third of our paid staff hours go to tracking cheaters)
If you can come up with a meaningful, enforcable and certain way of detecting secret alliances which does not violate user privacy (we do not go into inboxes), then please do tell us! We're always open for booting some cheaters out of the site!

lol i like it
as for zero tolerance, i dont like that, because then when the nazi mods pick on poor innocent people, who just want to enjoy a normal conversation without outraged nazi censorship occuring, they would end up banned forever. if you removed nazi mods and replaced them with normal people (i'll give you a clue he's blue and likes cookies) then that would end up being a much fairer process

Thanks Twill.
Suggestions:
- Set up an ad-hoc committee on cheating
- Recruit the mathematicians & statisticians
- Have them develop algorithms that can be programmed into database tools in order to identify suspicious activity
You should be able to set this up easily and I am sure that many of these folks would volunteer because it should be a fairly straight-forward task for them & their interests would be well served.
The cheats that I, johnnyrocket, and Ooga Booga found could have all been identified through the use of the tools that these people could create for you.

Re: A note to the moderators
Just something that should be considered as well when making appointments. The chess site i'm on had a vote as to who would be hunters/assessors. About 10% of those who applied and were vocal in their 'abilities' at catching cheats were in fact cheats themselves!!! A number have been banned permanently and even tried to get back under new usernames but were banned again.
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together!!

did mustard get done for being a troll just because he said 'i'll laugh at you because i don't care'? because that's fair enough to say that

We actually already have quite a few ideas already for new/updated hunter tools from those who do the hunting and see firsthand how we can better search/tweak the data based on certain behaviors and trends. That said, we've yet to run out of people to check for multis on a daily basis.

Re: A note to the moderators
Wicked, I have no interest in turning this into a debate with you, but it is quite simple. 2 accounts with the same IP is a multi. I dont care how much they plead it is a family member or what credit card they used to pay the membership with or in SkycheaTers case a roomate...its the same person. Even if some remote chance it is 2 different players, they will be playing team games and it gives them a huge advantage to have the flexibility to move for both accounts and knowing 100% what the strategy is going to be used to play the game. The only way to be 100% sure is to allow only 1 account per IP and eliminate the option of players taking turns for each other. The turn taking for each other is out of hand too. Players creating triples games and giving each other their passwords so they can move in freestyle games with all 3 accounts is getting old too but it is allowed as long as the original player makes the first move of the game and permitts the team to finish it up. Its all cheating in my book. The nonsense has got to stop. Its giving the site a bad name for the game play that is being permitted and overlooked.wicked wrote:Teutonics wrote:Suggestions:

How about this Dictator you make your own world Conquering Site and you can make the rules there. It is a shame that you have no family or friends that share the same intersts as you. But some of us do I have 3 Siblings, A ex-wife, current fiancee and 2 sons who all enjoy playing Games with me whether it is Risk, Monopoly or Streetfighter or Halo. I know a few people do cheat but not everyone does and these type of games were designed for family and friends originally just remember that as you hate on everybody that is honestly playing with Friends and Family...

Even when I posted the suggestion I was 80% certain that the company would not implement it. Such a committee would give the general playing populous a much better perspective of the steps being taken or not taken to curb the cheating problem problem. Given that the company has not yet implemented such tools & could get them for free through the creation of such a committee, I see little reason not to create the committee. That is.. other than my suspicions. In future, if you do not want to act upon reasonable suggestions, do not ask for them.
Re: A note to the moderators
The tools and data we use to hunt multis are closely guarded secrets (only 7 active people on the site have this info), which is why twill said if you had any workable suggestions for proving *secret alliances* to post them. I seriously doubt Lack would create a committee and divulge our multi hunting tools to a larger group.

I echo much of what wicked already mentioned. We read the suggestions in this forum, and though many are "reasonable suggestions" we always hold the right to not implement every suggestion.

Wicked...heres the line
same IP = cheater
____________________________
different IP = non cheater
you can only be on 1 side of the line. there is no secret way to determine if its a cheater or not.
Re: A note to the moderators
We don't discriminate against people who play with their family members or roommates. After all, some people don't have friends, right JR? I think we'll continue on as we have been, but thanks for your suggestion.
