How to deadbeat honorably

Post by wcaclimbing »

This is a list of ways to avoid being a deadbeat and what to do if you are forced to deadbeat your games:

I will edit this list of tips as new ones are posted in this thread.

Ways to deadbeat honorably:
1. Give everyone a few days notice so they can know you will be gone.
2. Explain why you will be missing the turns.
3. Arrange for someone in the game to kill you; maybe an ally you have made in the game, or just someone that will lose anyway.
4. (Optional) Tell everyone how many cards you have so they will be more eager to kill you and they wont have to waste time with you missing turns.
5. After taking your last turn before you will miss your turns, tell everyone that that is your last turn.

Ways to avoid deadbeating (and making the other guys wait):
1. Get yourself killed before you have to stop taking turns.
2. Find someone to take your turns for you (not someone in a game you are currently in). 1change your pw 2tell the guy that is taking your turns the new password 3after you are done missing turns change your password back to what it used to be.
3. dont join games a week from when you will be gone. This will make it so you have to go through a lot less trouble and the other people wont have to wait for you to get kicked from their games.

Hopefully, this list will help you avoid negative feedback and improve others' opinions of you.

I will add to/ change this list as people post new things in this thread. If you disagree with something in the list or you have something new to add, please feel free to post here.

3. Attack and attack and attack against someone that you know is already gonna lose the game. then it will be easy for the other guys to get rid of you once you stop taking your turns.
4. Tell everyone how many cards you have so they will be more eager to kill you and they wont have to waste time with you missing turn

and

1. Get yourself killed before you have to stop taking turns.

Are bad....

completely ruins the strategy of the game.

I agree that this ruins the game... I would rather wait and let them deadbeat than completely ruin the game strategy

In case of a realtime

Well i sugest to ally the weakest arange that the weakest will kill you, that spiced up the game, you probly recieve pos feedback ending it this way:
What you also can do is not use your cards, attacking some that could defend easy prefereable the strongest, attack with all army available until all over you have one's on each country, and dont keep contigents, let them invade you.
This is one of the ways to respectfully end a realtime with out going deadbeated or stall the game, this way all
realtimers can continue there game :!:

ok i changed rules 3 and 4. Number 4 is optional because it could be entertaining to watch everyone scramble to kill you and get your five cards.

Tr0y's greasemonkey script already tells you that. I don't know why anyone would want to play without it. It's addictive to have the card count and strength stats.

See my games below on how to deadbeat. I had to leave town for a week on business. I didn't join any new games for 8 days previous to my departure, but unfortunately, some dragged on too long.

I was a major back when 1600 was major. Now that I'm back, I get to easily win a bunch of games to get my rank. Thank the 'tards here who suck at this game.

The best solution is to get a friend to take your turns (make sure you're not in any games with this person though), then you don't have to deadbeat at all.

And as for your guidelines, if you want to tell the other players, fine, but I know that I wouldn't want to tell the others why I'm not taking my turns, that's my business and not theirs.

If someone arranges to get himself killed by an ally in of my games he gets a negative faster than you can say "I'll be away and will help my (new) friend get a few points, maybe he'll return the favour sometime".

How about you just play your cards normally (ideally all of them) and the others can deal with you as a "natural obstacle", put yourself square in the middle of the map or something like that.
