The inflation rate in Zimbabwe just hit 4 million percent. Some people say it is only 165,000, but they are just being stupid. -Scott Adams, artist and writer of Dilbert

yeah, he's right. the USA isn't a democracy, it's a republic. one of the limitations of pure democracy (like pure communism) is that it only works on a small scale. Democracy worked in Athens because it was a city-state.

Did you know that the most densly populated town in europe is London? Closely followed by Portsmouth.
And that the biggest council estate in Europe in in Basingstoke, England
Also, the highest rate of teen pregnancy in europe is in england
Also, the highest rate of drug-abusers in europe is in england
Also the lowest quality of life within the G8 is in England
And that once upon a time, the mongolians were the largest, most successful empir in the whole of the world?
Now the mongolians are a poverty-striken, inconfident race of people who the whole world has forgotten?
England: Our next venture...beating mongolia in them respects.
England: Raped.

Sorry fool, but the general consensus is that the British Empire was the largest - one whole fourth of the world.

Did you guys also know that women, slaves, foreigners and people who just weren't our kind of people couldn't vote in Athens?

Did you know that Spartan women actually were the property owners and such in Spartan society?
Also, they went through similar physical training as the men did.

did you know that during the peak of Shale fishing on the Delaware River, it's becoming an increasingly common practice (and increasingly detrimental to the local environment) for fishermen to spray WD40 into the water to attract the fish?
if you get caught doing it, it's a pretty hefty fine. but apparently the fish come right up to the boat and bite the hooks, so many of the fishermen can't resist.

abstemious

adventitious

wow, yeah, you're right. good words, too.
i should fucking write to Trivial Pursuit. can't believe i didn't think of the ones you listed, cause i know those words, and have used them before.
although, there's one problem... adventitious... doesn't work cause it repeats the letter "i"... but abstemious, no doubt.

personally my favorite word though is sesquipedalian. It basically means using long words.
