That is the native name, as is Danmark-Denmark. But, in my view, it has to be:
Danmark
Suomi
Sverige
Norge
Island
or
Denmark
Finland
Sweden
Norway
Iceland
respectively, either all native or all English.

Norwegian regions

I can add the borders to finland again, I just painted over them so they are actually still there.
I'm not sure of how small iceland actually is, but I can shrink it a little more and remove one part of it so it is a 4 land isle.
I can add lines so Öland(small swedish island) and the baltic island is own parts.
and I'll remove one border in danmark so we get fewer parts there.
I don't really like the idea of a single norway, to many border, to long and the only continent that border Iceland
*edit*
here are the changes
the legend now shows the number of regions in the "continent" this is NOT gonna be the bonuses later.
Ohh. and what are you thinking about the baltics being part of scandinavia?
for me it doesn't matter it makes the map more playable for me, but I could remove the baltics and draw a sea route from danmark to finland instead.
Hi: have a look at this for reference in Norwegian regions (fylker)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/87/Map_Norway_political-geo.png
I'll try to list the regions for you:
1. Østfold
2. Akershus
3. Oslo (Very small, so you can use just Akershus)
4. Buskerud
5. Vestfold
6. Telemark
7. Aust-Agder
8. Vest-Agder
9. Rogaland
10. Hordaland
11. Sogn & Fjordane
12. Møre & Romsdal
13. Oppland
14. Hedmark
15. Sør-Trøndelag
16. Nord-Trøndelag
17. Nordland
18. Troms
19. Finnmark
We also have Svaldbard which is a Norwegian territory.

Not exactly own. Norway has sovereignity over it along with Queen Maud's land, Peter the I's Island and Svalbard. Svalbard the only territory considered as part of the kingdom.

And yet, it matters not because the Bouvets are uninhabited. And if by Q Maud's Land you mean part of Antarctica, it is disputed because not all countries recognize any ownership of Antarctica.

Your bonuses are too high.
Iceland is for a bonus of 2, surely.
Denmark too, but I would remove that connection to Baltics and connect Baltics to Sweden instead.
N. Norway = 3
S. Norway = 4; Would be good to have one less border here.
For N. Sweden, I would split that huge territory in the South, and make it a bonus of 4.
S. Sweden, bonus of 5. I would just remove that little border of a territory with Norway.
Baltics bonus is 3.
Finland looks good to 6 or 7, I would just merge 2 countries in South area (that connected to Baltics and the one to the its east), and instead split that big are to the north.

I noticed that for each territory's bonus all you did was add up the number of provinces and then make that number the bonus...don't do that. Take into consideration the number of provinces, the number of borders, and perhaps how isolated the territory is from the rest of the territories. There may be other things to consider...

I'm not at home now, but the baltic/denmark connection is now a baltic sweden connection.
I'll merge the small parts, and split the larger part in finland. and also split the large part in N.Sweden. Then my suggestion is to extend the mountains between Sweden and Norway so one of the bottom connections dissapears.
any ideas on how to add svalbard? as it is above the current map the map would be even higher and I'm not sure on how to do that...
and once again...

I disagree, because 3 is a good number of borders to a medium continent, so no problem.
where do you see 3 borders?
Yellow part has 4 borders, the mountains would make it 3.
Red part has 5 borders, the mountains could keep it as that or make it down to 4 borders.

Do you have any of the names in mind for the areas? I'd like to see a map with the names, always helps the discussion of playability.
As for some of the names, the islands near Sweden and Denmark can be found on various internet atlas websites. But what of the regions in the actual countries. Do you have names for them? Get a map up with all the names and then we can discuss a little more.

as you might have noticed, I havn't been very busy with this map, I just hasn't had the time to do anything.
if someone wants to help, please send me a msg.
Help with a name layer would be great.
I've done it in Photoshop so it is all in layers if someone wants to change anything.

RexRegis wrote:The borders started out as "real" borders, but have been rearranged so it doesn't match real maps anymore...
That might make it more playable, but it makes it more difficult to name. For example, Trøndelag is now split in two, and so is Nordland. If the border was were it is in reallity, the map might not look as good, but it would be obvious which is which...
