On a small map the army shadows are more cluttered and that might be a factor worth considering as well when deciding what are the right army shadow.

This is worth repeating.

I'd just like to say what a fucking fantastic web site this is. Thanks to everyone who has worked on it.

On the voting issue I voted 60% black. It looks like it will be white by the voting so far but if you look at central america on the the most popular choice so far........... is that 6 or 8 armies.

The answer is it doesn't matter because I'm eliminating green next turn :)

In the last couple of days you have really come across as an arrogant arse, you certainly are not doing much for the reputation of the foundry. Lack can you please comment on the possibility of also retaining the old map, it would seemingly cut a lot of opposition at a stroke.

Now, I think people complain just because they dont like change, even if the change is better then the original.

White 30% kicks ass. Much better then the original and much better then the other variants. This is close to perfection.
I don't need a 500px image in my signature because I don't have anything to compensate for.

I aint voting. liked it how it was! the revamp process is just a joke! u messed up the canada map and now this one is messed up. The british isles map is very nicely done (apart from the wall and name).

if it aint broken, then dont fix it!

Ps..just for lack /(if your listening). I have loved all your updates and everything you have done at CC but Your revamp process needs to be addressed!!

I also think every1 should get 2 weeks free preprium for the finger and heartache , that i/we have all been given over this latest issue :D

white 40% easy to read and not too bright either, white 30% would be my 2nd choice

 you could only infer that if those were the only two choices.

he is pretty right, white beats black (no i'm not a racist, lol i just ment the votes for the army circles), and since black 60% is the old version (AFAIK) and white 60% is the new version

and MOST people complain about the brightness (of the army circles) then he IS pretty much right about more people voting for white. however 60% is a bit bright but just changing it to 40% or even 30% would make 95% of the players happy.

and i can hardly imagin some people complain over the other updates like: orange Oceania, coloured legend and non-overlapping territory labels

but well, they're always be retards, especially on the internet

I'd imagine that the changes to the Classic map were requested/authorised by Lack in the first place, given that it's his responsibility to update it??

The problem with the white on the small version is the neutral, pink and yellow all blend together. Thank you for trying and taking peoples opinions seriously. I wish you would should show those colours on a small version but probably the 30 or 49 percent black will work best

White 30% is the best i think, with second choice no shadow. With the black shadow its very difficult to recognize blue over Europe. I guess its pretty clear what the community wants now :)

why don't we just have two boards. one white, one black. i personally think that all forms of the white shadow look terrible and wouldn't play on those boards, but then there are people who think the opposite to me. why disenfranchise half the members?

I like white 30% it shows up better then black so your armys don't blend in to the map. What was the white percentage before :?: I like new changes to the classic map =D>

Yes, the visual impact is important. And that's why I think Black 60% is the best option.
Though all the versions are attractive.
We're playing a democracy here. =D> We're able to vote. When the poll is closed we'll get the final results. And that's it, imo. There's no turning back. The majority win.

this process is retarded. just keep the old map. if u want to change it, just make it a new map.

i play exclusively on the classic map and u ruined it with refusing to just keep the original

if 51% want a white background and 49% dont, y screw the 49% of the people who dont want the white background? just make a completely new map and call it "classic shadow"

Ludicrous! This circle debate is a stop gap measure and silly too. Redesign the WHOLE map. It looks positively cartoonish next to some of the more recent user created maps. Every other older map is getting a facelift, some of them hideous but others quite nice, really very nice in fact. Why not the Classic map too? Someone says, "I have a problem with borders and colors and circles" and your response is to jigger the circles and give the names a new font, and then come to us and say, "Your complaints have been directly addressed, and now you have new ones?" as if no one could have foreseen this after the previous awkward attempt to plaster stuff on top of the old map. If a house is poorly designed, giving it a garish lick of paint around the window frames ain't going to make the wife happy when the rain drips in through the roof. All it will get her to do is shut up for a month or so. "See? You wanted a change, I gave you a change! And you're still complaining?"

The problems with the Classic map are that it is too small and cramped in on itself. Even World 2.1 with its myriad of tiny countries manages to feel more expansive than Classic does with just the standard number. Redesign the WHOLE MAP. Start a competition, get all the map makers involved, it'll be a riot, we'll vote on the proposals, everyone will have a grand old time.

I don't want a fight here Yeti, i am very happy that we are having a vote and that the cool hand a sense will usher us to the most universally liked map. Also when all was said in done, i think you genuinely tried to help this along, so i thank you for that.

But 'No shadows' (surely that is the original map?) is beating the combined 50% + 60% White vote (i think the first Re-touch ended with 55.5% or something close so i added them together.)

And 30% white is winning by a margin.

I am happy with that actually and i think the majority who sit outside our front-line biases are probably making the best and most balanced decision.
hehe and perhaps both sides in our little forum-world were wrong... but it was not an easy passage to perfection ;)

As i say, i am just happy the system did, after a tussle, work. (not least due to Lacks philosophy in the final analysis)

cheers, jim.

It's called Classic for a reason. Keep it the way it was.

No shadow is good too, but the white shadows are just too distracting and ugly. If it's got to be white, then at least let it be the smallest amount of white - but it should really just stay at the original appearance.

You can see I'm bothered about this; I don't post, I just play, and I only play on that map - but it's got me exercised enough to break my zero post count.

It's called Classic because it copies the classic game board. We can do what we want with the graphic.

So are you telling me that now you can't even remember what your beloved classic map used to look like?
