The problem with doing this is that if there are blue armies on Europe or something similar, it becomes very hard to read the numbers. Brighter circles, while some people may not find them as aesthetically pleasing, ensure that no mistakes are made because of legibility.

no they don't. white and green both blend into the white too much. I was accustomed to the way that it looked. Now I have to re-a-fucking-just.

I for one did, and yet it didn't make a difference. You're never going to get the majority of the community in the map foundry to comment. The intense negative reaction last time should've been a huge clue lighter is not the preferred way to go.

Perhaps next time, put up an announcement with the proposed map on the My Games page BEFORE it's put into play. That way you'll reach the majority of the players here, not just a small minority in the foundry.

Yes, thanks for the work but i like the old one better.
I find this one very hard to read and i guess a lot of players are going to miss some opponent armies when attacking!

PLEASE fix the light circles. It had made it even harder to read the armies to where you almost need the color codes. PLEASE make it optional

Perhaps there is a happy medium to be found here?

the only way you're going to get people to comment is if it's actually up on the site when people are playing it. I think that's pretty obvious.

A good solution (to me), is to let people choose from the old classic and the new classic. That should cover almost all the bases.

It's just a mistake guys. Every change can't be a success. This one is doomed. Move on.

CLASSIC MAP NOT IMPROVED

Post by Rozebud »

IF THOSE BLINDING WHITE CIRCLES ARE SUCH A GREAT IDEA, THEN PLEASE GO AHEAD AND ADD THEM TOO ALL THE OTHER MAPS :)

Well I'm sure if enough people voice their displeasure with this change in a constructive even-tempered manner, it'll be reconsidered.

And you have every right to complain about the final product :). I myself voted for 55% opacity, but I don't mind the current version toomuch. What I was complaining about here was people who protest this new map but did not even bother to read the foundry threads on them. People who demand that the map be taken down and hurl insults at it left and right yet had never even looked at the thread while this was in development are being unreasonable. They would come across much better by mollifying their request in light of the fact that they took no part in the development process. Remember the story of the little red hen?

The only arguments for this map seem to be, well if you don't like it you should have posted in the foundry. EVEN A COLOR BLIND PERSON SAYS IT WORSE AND ITS TO HELP THEM???

I don't read the foundry like most people, I just play, its when the best map changes for teh worse we then comment.

Its kinda like the Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy when the Vogons say the plans have been in the universal library or w/e for 3 millenia and its earth fault they didnt object to the bypass

I think that is the issue. It is just a pain to try and figure out what armies are where...

CONTRUCTIVE CRITICISM

Post by Rozebud »

PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK!!!!

IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ENSURE READABILITY OF THE NUMBERS...THINK ABOUT MAKING ALL THE COUNTRIES PASTEL COLORS..IE LIGHT COLORS...AND THE ARMIES ALL DARKER COLORS....THOSE BLINDING WHITE CIRCLES REALLY ARE TERRIBLE....

Honestly I don't see why the Classic map needs a touch up. However the Europe map which has the geography all wrong was not touched up because people did not want it to change. Instead a new version was being developed to be played alongside the old one. Why not try having two maps then; an old classic and a new classic so everyone will be happy? I think this is the best solution at this stage.
