Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
Somebody always has to screw around with a good thing. Go mess around with the lesser played maps and quit screwing up a good thing.......
Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
Not a fan of this change. not a fan of the circles at all. I wonder if this is a case of the squeeky wheel getting the greese and the other 90% of users being screwed.

Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
Ok I am colour blind and the new classic is much much harder to read. I don't know what's wrong exactly. The changes are minor but somehow the old version was much more legible.
Either something needs to be done or please bring back the old one. At least put an option where one can *always* select the classic he wants. This map is too important to be messed with.

Actually yes...I think those might be the problem! Hadn't noticed before.
Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
It is very strange the change to this map and I HATE IT! for some reason I cant even concentrate Nore study this map any more its hurts the eyes I want the old version back or I will refuse to play classic ever again. I agree with ruben if your gonna stick with this change, make an option to revert back to the old way.
Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
I'm just going to prove how old-school I am by saying I liked the old Classic better.
It's the circles, really.

Hey guys i know yall are just trying to do improvements that you think look good, but unfortunately, me and a lot of people agree, the bubbles aren't the best move. The colors look fine, but the bubbles around the army #'s are killing me. I appreciate the effort, but if you can either turn in back or make it optional that would be awesome. I think you should put up a vote on this forum thread to see where most stand.

Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
Like many others here, I'm not a fan of the new classic. The army circles, as I posted in some game chat or another, look like flying saucers hovering over the world's countries. They're very distracting, as the brightest and most eye-catching element of the map now is also the least relevant to strategy.
And for those who say "shoulda checked out the thread in the foundry", I did check out the thread in the foundry. That's probably my favorite forum on the site, and while I don't post super often, I'm there almost every day. And the classic touch-up thread was rather disappointing: interest in the touch-up seemed lukewarm, quench came after only 10 or so pages, and very much of the process seemed to come by administrative or artistic fiat. There were several "lack doesn't want this" or "the artist decided on this" comments that pretty much killed the thread for me, especially after the boundless horror and head-clutching frustration of the British Isles revamp thread (which is another clusterfuck coming soon to your 'join a game' page). It never felt like anything approaching a community-vetted effort.
More to the point, it would've been surpassingly easy to generate more commentary on the classic touch-up through the use of a banner or something. One of the main concerns with the foundry is attracting traffic, and while I don't think that a site-wide announcement should be made about any old map, this is the signature map of the site we're talking about here. So for people to say "shoulda looked at the foundry", especially if they're people that know perfectly well that 98% of the players on this site never visit the foundry... well that's just damn disingenuous.

would of been very hard NOT to notice. the circles behind the numbers, what ever you want to call them make it damn near impossible to read. like a lot of other folks said, either get rid of them, or give us the option to get rid of them, OR have two classic maps, the real classic and this goat rope. it just out and out sucks!

THis sucks! Change it back or ill like never play this map again!
Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
I think the circles are a little to bright. They should be almost invisible.

terrible change, messed up my favorite board , please bring back the old map, dont change whats not broken
Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
Optional for the white circles. The rest is fine. Please remove the white circles or make it optional. This hurts my eyes and is less fun. Thanks.

Gotta agree with this, the majority of the players on this site had no complaints about this map, so why change it? Because a few people have to use telescopes to see their computer screen shouldnt be a reason why we should change the entire outlook of the map.
The circles are the overwhelming problem, but the entire map really took the nosedive. For the "not being able to see the colors" situation, isnt that why we added the color code option to the map? Just doesnt make sense...

Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
The classic map ugrade, in my opinion, is not really an upgrade at all. It's distracting and just plain annoying to look at. It should either be deleted or made optional...

I hate this please change this new map thing.

Re: Classic Map Touch-Up
works for me...nothing seems that drastic, which is great for Classic. Nice upgrade. I don't get all the "Sky is falling" comments in here.

The problem with doing this is that if there are blue armies on Europe or something similar, it becomes very hard to read the numbers. Brighter circles, while some people may not find them as aesthetically pleasing, ensure that no mistakes are made because of legibility.
