None of these places are real, all of the planets were made by me in photoshop and their similarity (if any) to any real star system or planet/s is entirely coincidental.

The topic title needs to be kept up to date or I get thrown off. :( Not even going to try to comment until it is.

will post a sample back story for this map on here in a while to give you and idea of what you can do
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

one way attack needs to be that blue lightsaber glow in the legend.

That's all I really see wrong.

I like Mibi sector 9. there is something about the way mibi sounds that i think encompasses this maps mood.

Errr, wait, why are the bombard targets missing from the new large map, but still in the small image?

How about something like "Each Shapeness can bombard its target territory"?

You may need to change your continents...

Anything that was written <component> is now <territory>

Note you can also use <continent> in your components if your logic needs it!!

Example of a backstory: a highly advanced alien race in the far future invades planets by first setting up shapenesses(really just satellites that are used as weapons), and they have now come head-on into the Human Empire. This is a battle in that war.

I'll happily write some XML for you if you need it done and someone's vanished...

on another note, could you possibly update the image in the first post...? It took me a little while (having not paid attention to the title) to find an image that didn't have me in boggles about why it was in the forge :P it looks nice to have that first image the good one :D

All right, you can write the XML if you'd like, since I have no idea what to do for that. I'll update the image now :)

I'll give it a start soon, in the meanwhile... I've still got some concerns about the graphics here. I think this could be a really fun and interesting map, but it needs to have a snap look to it.

1) I feel the territory borders on the planets are very two dimensional, and not curved enough. Maybe you could play around with warp to try and give them more bulge? and reduce the opacity a bit, make them seem more boundaries on the planet itself... Or go further, make small oceans on the planet, or make the planets really special... They could be! These could all (or some at least) be different life bearing planets, of different colours, Create them, don't just copy them. Take what you have and grow it. Even tho the dark side is showing, brighten it up a bit and emphasise some surface features. Take a look at a clear satellite shot of earth for some ideas on perspective.

2) I remember reading some weird gameplay rules but I can't see them anywhere on the map? what's the go with that? Can you give me a rundown on gameplay, and what bonuses I need to code?

The planets aren't copied, I made them myself, I just didn't originally make them for this so they aren't perfectly suited. What you suggest is a major graphical overhaul, but to be honest with you, I've been dissatisfied with the way this looks for a while now, and I agree that it needs a change. I think that, other than retaining the gameplay aspects (which will be specified in a moment), I'm going to redo the whole map to be clearer and better.
The gameplay elements that are unusual are as follows:
Certain territories can bombard others from across the map, in order to facilitate teamwork and in some cases alliances in Standard games.
The "ness" objects (alien spaceships) can all attack one another, and can each one-way attack one planet. The only way to get to the "ness" objects is to go in from "The Buckle." I think that about covers it in terms of special gameplay.
I'm going to try to make some time to get cracking on a redo of the graphics, I'll try creating new planets from scratch but it'll take a while, each planet is a pretty involved process, especially if I want to make specific continents.

Its the first time I see this map. I didnt read all the pages.

My comments:
- first, I dont see any great new idea in this map due to these ness things. Do you think someone will really do a pact to have an enemy to bombard a ness? There are 6 of them. If you have one, the best way is just take the ones that connect to your planet. If you dont have any, you just need defend you planet from them like any other normal border territory. If you dont have any, the most sad thing is that you will need to get the buckle or the proper territory if you want eliminate someone on escalating. But this is not that different from other maps. Like when Oceania have 1 country for each player, and to eliminate someone you need take Siam.

In flat or no cards games, the ness thing is almost nothing. And with a detail, some planets bonuses are unbalanced. Like I said, live nesses or no is the same, a neutral ness can be taken if attacked by other, so you need defend all planet borders like normal borders.

Omicron has 7 territories and 3 borders for a good bonus of 4. Pheris also has a decent bonus. But Praetos has 5 territories and 3 borders for a bonus of 2, the others also have a small bonus.

Maybe the right way to do what you are thinking is "nesses cant attack each other", can only be attacked from buckle, but in this case you should add some more routes to it.

Some more things:
If both Halo rings connect, you need tell that in the legend.
The connections, sometimes they connect to the territory, sometimes they connect to the names, sometimes they connect to the armies circle. I think some pattern would be welcome.
The little targets on the planets are almost invisible. Dont know if it was tried, but you could use targets from same colours to show territories that connect (although I already like the way it is).

Thats it, sorry if there is something (or almost all, lol) already discussed.

Lol, so we've determined that both the graphics and the gameplay need a total overhaul... I'm thinking we might as well think of a better name, too :)

Galaxtic conquers.....conquers of the galaxy?

(Im not a good name maker.)

The graphics are good.
I think this is close to becoming an offical map! ;)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm thinking we're going back to the drawing board on this one for sure :)
