Re: World Cup 2010 - Europe (round 1)

I have decided to have the following rule in place to prevent games stalling the tournament to long:

As soon as all remaining games in a round have reached round 50, I will give a 5 round notice to all remaining games. If the games are still not finished by then, I will split the remaining points equally over the players that are still in the game. If the points can't be split equally, then the players that have the most territories at the start of their turn in the round specified will get 1 point more then the other players.

At this moment 3 games are still active. 2 already have passed round 50 (1393206 & 1393211). The 3rd game (1691217) is at round 33 now.

So as soon as game 1691217 is finished or gets to round 50 I will give a 5 round notice to all games that are still active at that time.

finally a way to get those other players to take a chance...is there anyway to start some of the second round qualifying games?

No, I will make the draw when all 8 players for round 2 are known. Just check the last active games. When the AoM game (1691217) reaches round 50 (or is finished before round 50), then the 2nd round will start rather soon, so if you just keep a slot open from that time it's OK.

I will also mention it here as soon as I will give the 5 round warning for the remaining games, so you know that round 2 is coming soon then.

1 player is out of both remaining games in group 2 now, but did didn't give any conclusion yet on 1st and 2nd place. So we still have to wait for game 1691217 to reach round 50 (currently at round 38), and when it's not finished by then, I will give the 5 round notice in all 3 remaining games.

Only 2 games are still active now, and since both are past round 50 I have given a 5 round notice now to these games, after which I will end them as far as the tournament is concerned. So round 2 will start soon. So for the non-Premium players qualified for round 2, please have 1 slot open soon.

PS: It is possible that before round 2 starts there need to be 1 or 2 play-off games to determine the runners-up of the 2 groups not finished.

Hi,
I will be off without internet connection until Sunday. Hopefully, this won't dis-qualify me from the games we waited for so long...

This is mentioned in the opening post:

Forza AZ wrote:In each group there will be 1 game on the home settings of all players in that group. Winner of each game gets 4 points, runner-up gets 2 points and 3rd placed team gets 1 point.

This is valid for all rounds, so in round 2 there will be 1 game each on the home-settings of the 2 players in a group. When both win 1 game, then there will be a play-off on Europe, Flat Rate, Chained.
First matchday games of round 2 have just been set-up.

As there are only 2 players in each group in round 2, I guess points are for the winner of the game. There are 2 games, so high chance for a tie. in each team.

Am I right, or I missed something?

Officially the winner gets 4 points and the loser 2 points, but of course in a group of 2 players the points don't matter. It's just the win that counts, and if both win 1 game there will be a play-off game to determine who qualifies for the final tournament.

I did not ask when you are going to open the next tournament. I am wondering if you will make a post in this thread when you open the next qualifying tournament or if we will just have to keep looking for when you open it unannounced

The next tournament will be opened the same day or 1 day after this tournament is finished. So just check the Create/Join forum as soon as you see this tournament is finished.
