Not afraid of spiders, heights or snakes at all - which are three big phobias. My main fear is drowning, but I still swim frequently.

Yeah, I could imagine a psychiatrist saying that.

"sir, I'm afraid you are suffering from a severe case of hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. I can tell because just saying that made you hide behind the couch."

I think I know people who suffer from that...they see an eight-letter word and cringe.

It's actually hippomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, not hippopoto-. You guys are adding two syllables because of hippopotamus (hippo + potamus = horse + river = river-horse, in Greek).

It's important, you know.

My personal favorite, though, was the Gary Larson cartoon: luposlipophobia-fear of being chased around a table by wolves on a newly waxed floor while wearing socks.

Being raped.
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

public speaking and heights!!

Between the two, I'd rather jump off the top of a skyscraper than have to speak publicly.
I'd rather disembowel myself than speak publicly. I'd rather bite off my own penis and beat my mother to dead with it than give a speach in public!

Well, I think that was a bit...extreme.

Just a bit....

Speaking publicly, not that bad....

If you do it well, no one will make fun of you.

True. Public speaking is intimidating I'll admit that. But most of the time when I have to speak publicly, when I'm done, I'll wonder why I was so nervous to begin with.

But you only do it badly if you aren't confident.

I mean, honestly, even Bush was able to convince most Americans to elect him to a second term because he was confident when he gave speeches, even though most of what he says makes no sense.

failure.

deep seated fear of unremarkable failure.

public speaking is a snap.

death, f*ck it man. i know enough about pain that the worst pain is the kind you haven't experienced before. but the endorphins all fire the same way. so don't anticipate it, just take it. let the pain focus the mind to that trancendental place. death will be the same way. no matter how painful, it's all gonna end the same way.

and clowns? no, not really. never got creeped out by dudes in makeup until i went to manhattan.
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too
but as it turns out it was just a clever ad for cigarettes.

No, it's not the fear of the pain of death, but what comes after. I mean, I'm a Christian, and I'm quite sure that I'm going to heaven, but I can't help thinking at times that what if I'm wrong? What if it's another religion, like, Judaism, or Islam, or (God forbid) Mormonism? I'll end up going to their version of hell.

Also, if there's nothing afterward, I'm scared of no longer existing.
