Ah, my mistake. Your behavior has lead me to think otherwise.
Being that you are from Texas, as you saying that the Mexicans under the tyrant Santa Anna should have packed up and left? Mind you, they concidered Texas their home (one should be the one telling me this) and were oppressed by a Government in which that had no say in (sound familiar?). So, should they have bent over, offered up their duaghters and their wives or should they have done what they did and fought? Rhetorical, don't answer that. I have no need to lecture you on Texan History, but suffice it to say that the US was showing the Mexicans just where to get off.

So what's your answer to my question?
I'm just confused, yet interested, concerning your views of sovereignty.
Oops I ment to say Texans, but it seems that communication was partly sucessful.
Are you saying that you would gladly give the entire SW United States back to Mexico? Then what did the men at the Alamo die for? If I where to continue down this thread, the hijackers of the 9-11 attacks were perfectly justified in their actions against us. You sicken me.

It used to be Byzantium, then it became Constantinople. And as far as I'm concerned it will always be Constantinople and the rightful property of the Greek Republic in Athens. So to is all of Cyprus.
As for the rest of Europe, Alsace-Lorraine belongs to Deutchland; Frankreich, you will return Strassburg to its rightful owner.
In 1985 the Lakers were the NBA Champions. Therefore the Lakers will always be the NBA Champions.

I'm making no historically normative claims, as you are when you say that Istanbul is the rightful property of the Greek Republic (though this historical rationale baffles me). Indeed, other than my very first post in this thread which seems to espouse the idea that Turkey needs economic reform, I'm making no arguments at all... simply asking questions. To the point, I'm asking you your opinions considering a land dispute 'closer to home'. You haven't answered me.

Oh. And I hope you get well soon.
You're not. Sure seems that way to me.
I have answered you, they pushed, we shoved. They oppressed, gambled with us and lost. End of story.

Byzantium was always one of the cosmopolitan towns in the world. And today's Greece isn't a real successor of Byzantine empire. Ottoman empire was a conglomerate of different nations (for instance Greeks were almost always dragomans and ship commanders - even when the Greek War of Independence started).
So you are from USA.
Hmmmm...
How about returning your home to native Americans and going back to Europe or wherever are your family's roots.
Maybe then you can really say something on this subject.

I actually converted around page 198. Unfortunately, I converted to satanism.

Two words: get lost.
Unless you happen to be Native American yourself, you have no more of a right to dictate terms to me that Turkey has claim to Cyprus or the region known as Thrace (the lands adjacent to Constantinople).
So I say again, get lost.

How do you manage to put so much hypocrisy in your posts?

I'm not arguing Cyprus.
But wow! Byzantines lost Trakia (Trace) to Ottomans in mid 14th century (Edirne even became new capital). Istanbul was captured in 1453 by Ottomans. Columbus was still wearing diapers in that time. Heck, we could give it back to the Crusaders who ruled that town in 13th century!
So by your own formula for this subject: if you are not 100% pure Greek (which you, btw, aren't) you can only be an ignorant hypocrite!
btw Have you ever been to Istanbul?

Thrace is divided between three countries: The northern part belongs to Bulgaria and is also known as eastern Romilia, the western part between river Nestos and river Evros belongs to Greece and the rest is in Turkey. In Turkey is Constantinopole and Adrianople(Edirne). Since the majority of the population are Bulgarians, Greeks and Turks in each part, the borders should remain as they are today.
I don't know about you, meggy, but if between Texas and Irak, the only existing border was guarded by Turks in the Kurdistani foothills, would you feel particularily comfortable?

Yeah, France is talking something...
We all remember the riots in 2005.
