A chair.
Maybe a length of wood, such as a baseball or cricket bat .

Potatoe guns are deceivingly dangerous...here is me with one of my home-made ones, using 3 feet of copper-piping, an ignitation device and a spray of deoderant...oh yes, the potato too...

Seriously though...they're powerful enough to fire a spud about 50-80 feet....just a spray of deoderant too..
Look...

No, I'm talking about something different. Potatoes aren't magnetic.

they are in chernobylI have seen some damn excellent potato guns though. Some elaborate ones with cool fuel hatches and such.
I'm struggling to picture this...sounds.....dangerous, in a sexy way.
I believe they used a hairspray, and they had a little hatch that would fit the bottle, and some sort of badass sparking trigger mechanism. It was sexy; I got hot.

one of my favourites is the flame thrower.
one day someone said to themselves 'i'd really like to set those people on fire but i can't reach them from here' and the idea of the flame thrower was born.
i also like the mace.
one day someone said to themselves 'i don't think crushing someone's skull with a lump of metal/wood is enough. what i really need are some spikes.'

You didn't include War Hammer?
So I chose the next best thing, which would be a spiked Flail.
The reason being is that knight's armor repelled most types of weapons, therefore, the War Hammer, Mace, Flange, or Flail proved to be very efficient against an armored opponent.
Any weapon that had a large mass with a small spike proved to be the best weapon in dealing with an armored adversary.
If the opponent was unarmored, I would choose a bladed weapon, probably the sword for its speed and handling.
In very close quartered combat situations, you would have to pick the dagger or dirk.
Mounted opponents it would definitely be the Lance or Pike.
I guess it all depends on what type of opponent you are facing and what kind of spacial environment you are fighting in.
If it is open battlefield and you are fighting unarmored opponents, the Battle Axe might prove to be the best.
I am assuming that you are judging the best weapon according to it being used on the open battlefield and with armored knights, if that is the case I would have to go with the Flail, but if you had it on your poll list, the War Hammer would probably be the best bet in this type of situation.
