I played alongside him in a triples game and found him to be exemplary. Was well worth while as well, seeing as it made the points pick up very satisfactory.

Theoretically, yes. But in practice, average is probably significantly higher than 1000. I mean, there are many players who've lost few games and gone for good. They do exist in database, but they aren't "in play" (while their lost point are).
So if you count only active players, we have significant inflation...
