I've played so many that I don't even remember, I know for a fact that I lost my first game because it was a private game with the e-tards that turned me into a cc-tard...
I started off real slow, but have been winning lately, I try to play against higher ranked players so that when I do luck up and win, I get a boatload of points...
I guess it's been working so far, I don't have many wins, usually hover around a 20% clip as far as games won are concerned, but have accumulated a decent rank for having been here 3 months, at least imo...
I've also started playing more escalating games because they don't take as long, I hate the 50s staring down 50s and 100s staring down 100s type of games, I've even seen games where players have 4,000+ armies on territories just staring back at each other, not fun imo...

I won the second of my games. And then some more, those were some good times.

I won my third game.

i didn't win til my 8th game. then my next win was at my 12th game (my first time playing owen), then i lost ALOT until my next win in a triples game (partnered with war ape - he had finally joined cc after playing warfish). gradually it got better. for a long time my husband outranked me and I considered myself a perma-private. that was before the new ranking system, i would have probably been a perma-cook with the new system.

Lost my first, a team game.. that was before newbies were not allowed to join team games. Won my second one.
I noticed you have joined games with many different styles: quadruples, assassin, chained, no cards; you are also playing maps like Siege! Madness, Circus Maximus, which are all great; however, if your conquering experience comes from playing Risk, you may want to consider playing Classic with standard settings for a while. Once you've won a couple of games, you'll be better prepared to deal with any frustrations some people feel with new maps/styles.
It's worth it..trust me...

I've never played Risk before, so its not a problem in any of these. I'm just trying a bunch of styles and maps to see what I'm good at. I'm also using that as my excuse for starting out so slowly.ABSOLUTE_MASTER wrote:Lost my first, a team game.. that was before newbies were not allowed to join team games. Won my second one.

Ops.. sorry..i just read this:
You're like a virgin.. first time I see one of those here... Look for one of those nice players who like giving advice.. maybe Wacicha, I think there was a thread about players adopting new players, or something like that..
Anyhow.. don't worry, you're doing great based on the circumstances.

I won my second game rather quickly after losing badly to my father, who had played for a long time before me. I was given a lot of tips, which almost certainly helped. I would recommend playing against people who you know or repeatedly playing the same people so that you can get to know each other and work with each other to learn a lot of the strategy of the game. Also i believe it is a good idea to read the forums looking for tips as there is a lot of good information.
