One Puppy vs One Million Iraqis

Just curious on people's reactions to this. My opinion is that this Marine wasn't wearing his thinking cap that particular day. But the question is, why do people get so upset over one puppy when probably over a million people have been killed over this war?

While I do not condone throwing living animals off cliffs, if only for the reason that it makes no sense, I really don't get what's the big deal about puppies. We eat all kinds of animals and barely anyone complains, but as soon as it's something "cute" people seem to lose whatever traces of intelligence they had before.
Now, I followed this link and they're not even sure whether the dog was alive or dead when it was thrown off the cliff. If you feel like boosting your ego by throwing a dead animal off a cliff and posting the video on Youtube, fine, go ahead and make a fool of yourself.

Simple biology.

I think Iraqis are cute and cuddly, so I disapprove of killing them, just as I disapprove of killing puppies.
However, the US military approves of killing Iraqis, and so the war continues... Personally, I'd rather have 1'000'000 innocent dead puppies than 1 innocent dead Iraqi, but hey, that's just me...

In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

Obviously human life is more important than animal life.
(If you disagree with this statement then GFY... I don't wanna hear it.)
That said... the puppy was killed (assuming the vid is real) for no reason. It was a malicious act with intent. It was not a threat... it was not a perceived threat... and it was not an accident.
Human death in Iraq, at the hands of US/Allied forces, occurs either because the individuals are combatants (i.e. threats)... or perceived threats... or they are killed accidentally in the cross-fire.
Obviously there are examples of human death at the hands of US/Allies... that were not combatants, or perceived threats, or accidents. This is called murder... and there SHOULD be outrage over these acts.
I would not call killing a puppy murder.
The reason there is outrage over this malicious violent killing of an animal (likely a pet of some Iraqi kid) is because it is caught on video. I am sure that if the incidents in the media where US forces are accused of murder were on video.... and if the soldiers were laughing like they are in that video... there would be even more outrage.

Wouldn't you fight the people who invaded your country?
They are just defending themselves.

He isn't saying they are evil or anything, just (using his words) combatants.
Twice as many Iraqis would have died by now if the US had left after they had defeated Saddam.
I get a kick out of people like the poster above me. They're so fast to point out how something should have been done to stop genocide in Rawanda but they want the US to pull out of Iraq so that the same thing happens there.
Also, this website is about world domination. I think you're playing the wrong game if you harbor such destructive pacifism.

i'm sorry, but not all of us play conquerclub/RISK because we truly do, one day, wish to take over the world and purify it.
many games let us do something we normally cannot do in real life, and does not necessarily mean given the chance we actually will do it.
i.e. Need for Speed, Grand Theft Auto, Monopoly, RTS games, etc.

I hope you're ready to face aggressive drivers, be beaten and mugged, lose your house, and eventualy become enslaved by the rest of us.

true, but read other's posts here. they have valid points. the title of this thread is a puppy vs a million iraqis.
basically, the essence is this: people are outraged over the killing of a puppy, but never about the killing of thousands of innocent iraqi civilians caught in the crossfire.

I care about that stuff to but the civilians caught in crossfire is accidental. That is clearly on purpose and he should face the same consequences that Mike Vick faced. It's just really sad to see something like that happen. What makes it worse is the dog is yelping and you can hear is stop abruptly. It's just disgusting that someone would do that.

Thank you... my post makes no judgement on the rightenous or lack-of-same in regards to the war/invasion/occupation (i.e. whatever you want to call it). My post is a simple explanation answering to the best of my ability the question originally posed by the thread.
Which is "why are people up in arms about this video?".
Jim
To be fair, here is a video of a good Marine with a puppy! Please don't think that all Marines are psychopaths, that is not the case. My brother is a Master Gunny and he would never do something as dumb as toss a puppy off a cliff!
