I gave it to FDR, but I was tempted to vote other for Teddy. He had an incredible mustache and freaking invented teddy bears. I'm predicting Ronald Reagan wins by a landslide. He's the hero of the Republican party.

Dude, George Washington. He was the first. Shouldn't even be a debate on this issue. There are many great Presidents, but George Washington has got to be the all time Best because his leadership gave us the United States of America and our independance from England.

George Washington, no question about it.

Come on...Tricky Dick has to be up there.
Forget Watergate-he just got caught (Kennedy and Johnson weren't a whole lot, if any cleaner-illegal assassinations of South American dictators, anyone).

But Nixon changed history with CHINA.

And darn near won the Vietnam war as well. It was only after he resigned that it all fell apart for the US.

Lets hear it for Richard Nixon!

You are kidding right?
The guy was quite a decent general (not in Napolean's class, or Wellington's but not bad) but as a President...HE WAS JUST A FIGURE HEAD!
A nice enough guy, I'm sure, but not great. Now Jefferson, there was a dude.

... Little known fact, George Washington had every intention of becoming the first king of America.

... It didn't quite work out as he expected.

During the Whiskey Rebellion (shortly after the war), George Washington sent 12,000 militiamen to stop it, which he did. Not exactly something a figurehead could do you know.

After he defeated the British he could've become like a king with his popularity and power. BUT, he decided that a country SHOULD NOT be ruled by one person. He put himself down.

Wondering that myself, because I was taught that he turned down the offer to become King.

Though he was the father of our country, that was all he was the father of. Meaning he had no kids.

Nixon's negotiations with China certainly make him one of the most important Presidents from a contemporary perspective.

And... "darn near [winning] the Vietnam war" is kinda correct... he helped the U.S. get as near winning as it was ever gonna get by starting withdrawal. The end of the Vietnam War was certainly a victory for the U.S.
