Live Music

Post by Haydena »

I'm incredibly bored...

How are you guys with your live music? Have you had any amazing gigs or amazing artists live?

I'm going to see Iron Maiden live in december at Earls Court - London... Supported by Trivium...

Lets hear about any amazing gigs you've been to

The Pixies played Bumbershoot almost 2 years ago, and that was pretty phenomenal. They sound just as good as they did ten, twenty years ago, and their songs are still just as poignant today. What they lack in big-arena antica, they make up for with their musicality and light show (The lights were incredible).

I saw that tour, in Ally Pally it was. Fooking brilliant. Blinding. And along-held ambition fulfilled.

One of the best gigs I went to recently was Autechre (yawn i know :)) - they played for 45 minutes in a club in london bridge after two hours of decent, dark techno. And they were incredible. Everyone left the floor afterwards dazed, hypnotised and... well, incredibly turned on. I have never heard music like it. No drugs were involved, either (well not by me). Craziness.

Best show I saw this year was Animal Collective, by far. A visual and aural experience like none other. Third and best time that I've seen them. Other great shows from 2007: Black Lips, LCD Soundsystem, Deerhunter, Hella, Turbonegro, The Hives and Stereo Total.

Most disappointing show I saw this year: Spoon
Roses are red

I've probably seen... somewhat over 500 bands live. But I don't really like to go to shows anymore. They happen too late at night and I don't like standing up for so long. I get too drunk just waiting for bands to come on that I'm puking in the alley during the headliner.

Spoon is always disappointing if you have anything at all to disappoint going in.

I don't really like their albums, but their live shows are just... lame.

I used to love getting to shows early to catch the opening act now I show up barely in time for the headliner and I'm out usually before the encore ends so I can beat the crowd. No puking in alleys for me though. I'll leave that job to the ladies...
