so does this map move to a different area of the forum now?

Once Gimil has stamped the graphics and I have stamped the gameplay, it's falls to Andy to review it and move it to the forge if/when ready. Andy may have concerns based on the map or the recent discussion, and if it looks like another update is coming soon he may sit on it. Or it may just take him some time to get to it. :)

Large - new v13

Howdy,

Some graphical changes. Take a look see.

Here's the list:

*Graffiti Style changed again. and color.
*Title returns to it's glorious largeness.
*Skyline expands.
*Line added about train line bonuses.

We're considering adding drip on the sign for the graf. Benny is sick now and I'm getting swamped with work. That means no update Friday. Hopefully I'll get to do something over the weekend but I've got another project to work on that needs my full attention so we'll see...

Best,

snap

looks awesome!
Bonuses seem pretty reasonable to me.
Graffiti looks great... but drips would add to it i think.
Well done guys.

As promised here a revive :)

1. THe boarder to the legends left of the hudson doesnt have a black line boarder like the rest of the map. This isnt a problem and doesnt look bad, altohugh I feel that putting the line in would make the map feel a little more whole. This point aslo applies to the dead territory on the bottom right :)

2. Names like east river, hudson river etc are names which are not part of te gameplay. I wouldnt suggest removing them but maybe reduce the opacity so blend into the image a little better and bring the gameing area forward a little image wise.

3. Im not really a fan of the drop shadow you used in any of the map since the rest of the iamge is flat in feeling. I would probably remove the shadow on the continent names on the map. As for the title sign, I dont think it would hurt to keep it as it is for now :)

4. I would like to see a more distinctive coor used for hte bridges connecting the different islands of the city. THe current ones dotn stand out as well as I would like them to.

5. In your next update included the small image as well. If you make up updates (or rebuttel them) and the small image is usable to a decent standard ill stamp it :)

we'll do this, but we'd like to keep it relatively thin.

we'd like to keep those, so we'll adjust them, and try to blend them slightly.

we'd like to keep the drop shadow on the title sign, but we'll take it off the continent names and see how it looks.

we'll see what we can come up with.

clarity of play would be improved a bit if the subway lines didn't bisect non-subway station army circles.

Soho is the worst offender, but there are a few others (Elmhurst, etc).

Greets,

Here's the latest with the suggetions from gimil.

*changed color of bridges and widened
*rejiggered ferry lines
*added line around outlying area
*faded names of things not in play
*removed drop shadow from borough names

To do:

Clean up small map. I just didn't have the time.

Oaktown: We've been meaning to clean the lines for awhile now but haven't gotten around to it. I think now is the time for Benny and I to sit and get a layout for the train lines and the terit names and army shadows. We'll work on that as we clean the small map. Once we scale to the big map everything should be fine.

i think it looks sweet. i was confused about the train stops because they're cutting through the circles, but its understandable if you look closer. maybe move the lines a little?

I understand your point, but I don't see it as such a big deal. Two places in the legend identify the train stations as having heavy borders around them, The above ground territs have translucent backgrounds while the stations have opaque backgrounds. I'd think that most people realize that trains only stop in certain stations, and the indication that these are subways should clue people in that the lines go under some territs.

Worst case, Bill-Joe-Bubba tries to attack Harlem Station from Washington Heights and discovers that it can't be done. He'll prolly figure it out from there.

My 2 newbie cents.

I agree with Freeman...
it's not the worst thing... plus, in several places it won't be possible to move them (LES and UES!)

i just wanted to know what made that area of east bronx "throgs neck"... i know of throgs neck bridge, but i always viewed it as edgewater park...

also, can we take over rikers island? that would be pretty neat.

this isn't really a big deal. i like the map!

thats funny, because my girlfriend actually lives in edgewater park. the area is called throgs neck... edgewater is just a part of it.

Personally - I don't think this is an issue - as the lines go behind the army circles...
