Favourite Continent on the Asia map - Strategy
well, most of us agree that on the classic map, the best continents to hold from the start are probably between oceania, SA and NA, but im just wondering what ppl think about the asia map,
personally I think if you can start off with many countries in india, then india is the ideal continent, because if you hold burma/bengal and take turkmenistan, you only have 2 countries to defend, however, if u start weak in india (scattered, not concentrated anywhere), it's best to take japan or philipines, most commonly i take either japan or philipines and then expand to take the other, they are easy to defend and they're beside each other
i find southeast asia too difficult to defend, and china is basically impossible

Japan has gotta be my fav. It takes only 5 territories to conquer, and each territory except N. Korea is only exposed to one territory, which helps if you start out with all but 2. It only has one stronghol point, but compared to Philippines, it has 3 extra armies instead of 2.
Although I must say, I seem to always be starting off with Siam all the time. Most of my armies are always there, and I easily conquer it and then expand to India. It's the main reason why I've been getting a headache to tell the differences between each territory and their borders.

What he means is that N.Korea's the only one that can be attacked by two outside territories (Sakhalin and Manchuria). And yes, India, once taken, is damn near impossible to beat. That's how I won my first Asia game. And Siam looks on the surface like an easy bet (4 armies, same defensive abilities as Japan and India, and only 7 seven territories? Heck yeah), but I've never started with any reasonable force there yet and thus haven't had a chance to try. As for others, Japan and Phillipines are good the same way Oceania and S. America in Classic mode are, China's as difficult or more as Asia (and this time, is center of map and directly attackable by everyone except India!), and the USSR... tricky. Too many flanks to protect (India at your head and Japan at your ass), I'd say impossible unless you either own most of it at start, or if you're expanding there after conquering India.

If you are talking about Far East it would be east Indies or north east Asia
