[Abandoned] - Official Feudal War Revamp

Post by gimil »

Mod Note:Abandoned - If resurrected, this one must be checked again.

REVAMP take 2!

I have took the graphical style from Feudal Epic and applied it to the original feudal war because I would like something consistant between the two maps.

Tell me what you think.

[bigimg]http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c64/Gimil_01/FeudalWarsmall-4.jpg[/bigimg]

NOTE: Except for the minor border changes ive made, I veto any other major gameplay games other than the changing of neutrals to balance the map out.

Territories: 82

So after some talk recently of my map not looking so great I decided a revamp was in order.

Gameplay has changed in 3 area:

-Realm of Might Castle has been rearanged
-Rebel Territory 7 has 1 less border
-Lack minstello 8 has 1 less border

Im not going to try and explain it all, we all know how it works :)

So this is a whole new PSD file? Must have taken a while.
Anyway, looks pretty cool. I'd rather have the slight yellow and brown textures and little trees on the grass like in the old version, though I understand that this is just a 1st draft.

Its actually took a fraction of teh time to make the new file :) Although, yes, alot of work. I will add more landscaping in the next draft.

I think you should make it all black and all you can see is the army numbers, that way people will have to guess borders and names.

Anyway, I don't think this needed a revamp, but I don't mind it; I always thought of the graphics as plain. I really think you need to fix the vilages, but I can't put my finger on what it is, but don't worry, I'll tell you as soon as I figure it out.

i already told you in the pm feudal doesn't need a revamp.
at least not now. maybe in 6 months but not now.

I think I put my finger on the villages: it's too scattered. I think there should be a "main" hut in the center and everything centralized around that. But I could be wrong.

the only reason people dont liek feudal's graphics is because it doesnt look like a normal risk-style map. not its bad, but i just feel the land is too empty even with all the trees that u will add to this. trees can only fill up so much before it gets overused.

have u thought of making different terrain terts? it wont affect gameplay but it will change up the look and make it more different.

maybe u can try adding sand near the lake or river, and maybe forest terts instead of a few trees everywhere. or plains with wheat on the adjacent castle terts to show some realism that people grew food on the land and possible surround houses near the castle.

u might have to change up the village tert, by creating a circular village where all the huts/houses are arranged in a circle with a town center in the middle and a road going through it to signify a village and not just regular houses near the castles.

map is still great though gimil. just a tad plain.

Time to retire this much loved sig of mine with a new clan.

I'm actually really glad to see this being fixed up a bit, not that it needs too much. I REALLY like this map, and have played it a ton, but I've had a lot of trouble distinguishing the 3's from 5's and reading some of numbers overall, and as a result have mis-attacked on this map more than any other ever. (but I still play it!)

Is there a way to remove the black shadows behind some of the numbers? For example, the Northern Plains numbers are very easy to read and the Realm of Might numbers aren't.

of course i'll support you, i just think that since you have little free time to do maps (since you're a carto and all that) i'd like to see that little bit of time put to use towards a new map.

I don't like that colour of green... It's too unnatural. But it's not that big of a deal and I don't blame ya... Any landscape artist will tell ya that green is the hardest colour to reproduce ;)

I find it too fake, to fabricated, to unnatural, to phony, ect. ect.

I'm playing this map for the 1st time right now, and I would agree with Wicked - the numbers can be difficult to read. Also, it took me some time (and a hint via the game chat) what the villages were and what their role is. Maybe make the legend text a little easier to read, also. Well, the title text, not the play description text. Maybe if you can make my mind a little clearer, I'd have been able to pick up on the villages quicker...

All in all, I really like the game play so far. Some minor text upgrades, and the upcoming landscape improvements are all I see this map needing right now.

please make the numbers clearer.

I CONSTANTLY screw up the 5's and the 3's. on a chained fort game, that could cost it.
