yes, do reinstate the alps. italy does not belong in central europe, unless u call that continent "axis powers". if u create a 3-territory italia, then there will be too many small continents, so why don't u include sardinia and sicily as part of italia (with a sea route from sardinia to italy)? these two islands can also be part of the med islands continent at the same time.
the islands off turkey ought to be blue, not brown, since they belong to greece. alternatively, they can be orange if u want to put them in med islands.

MrBenn wrote:The country abbreviations probably do need a bit of refining... I have tried to use official 2-digit country codes in a couple of places, but have been fairly inconsistent with them!
the official iso country codes are:
BA: bosnia & herzegovina (not herzegovinia)
LU: luxembourg
LI: liechtenstein
ME: montenegro
MK: macedonia
SI: slovenia
SM: san marino
VA: vatican city
KGD: kaliningrad (no 2-digit code because neither independent nor autonomous)
http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes/is ... ements.htm
there are only two places shown on our map that are recognised with official 2-digit iso country codes, but which currently have no part in the gameplay. to be consistent, can u make them territories?
IM: isle of man (self-governing island between england and northern ireland)
AX: åland - also spelt aaland (demilitarised island between finland and sweden)

Well, I've taken a couple of days away from map-making (been a bit busy with life!), and have finally got another Update:
Update 11
The big changes I've made are:
-I've drawn in the Alps
-Splintered Mainland Italy into a continent
-Switched some continent colours around
-Updated the Continent names and provisional bonuses
There're plenty of minor tweaks I've made, including:
-I've redrawn several bits of border; including Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Armenia and Siciliy
-Adjusted sea routes
-Wrote 'To Do' on the minimap
-Thought about extra Med Islands bonuses, and put an explanation on the map
I'm sure there's more bits, but I can't think of them right now!

I had a good hard think about this, and have decided aginst including these additional islands as territories, due to space considerations.
There is not enough room on the large map to have the Isle of Man as it's own territory, and there is definately not going to be enough room on the small one. There is probably slightly more room to fit Aaland in, but I would still struggle on the small map.

Good looking map MrBenn. I love the look and look forward to this being playable.
I do have a question (I don't know if it was already brought up).
Every territory is a region of land surrounded by a border except teh SM and Vat. territories. What borders those two? Do you need to hold italy and then attack SM and them Vat.? I think to avoid confusion you might want to put borders in Italy dividing it into those 3 regions. Just a thought.
Plus the black outer glow int eh legend is too thick and dark. It makes the blue and purple text hard to read.

Thanks WM.
Yes, San Marino (SM) and Vatican City (Vat.) are microstates - both bordering Italy only - and not regions of Italy.
I'm thinking that Kaliningrad (Kgd.) and Italy should start neutral, so that Transcontinental Europe and Italy can't be held from the drop. Transcontinental has a high bonus as it will b otherwise hard to take and keep - Italy because it is easy to hold (although it only borders 'difficult' continents).
Nobody has mentioned the outline of the legend text yet; but you're right, it does need to be amended... I'll put it on the To Do list!

Yes - the attack route is Monaco - Corsica. Do you think it should be France? I wanted to have it to Monaco as a) Monaco has a famous marina, and b) otherwise France is pretty much all you need to hold Western Europe...
Riazor wrote:Do Sicily and Italy connect? I assume they do, but there is no visible sea route.
Yes - they do connect. I had the borders touching on an earlier draft, but adjusted them as they do not connect in reality. Do you think I should draw a sea route, or reconnect the land borders??

No I like that it's Monaco only - but I can see it being a problem for people not understanding... but how to make it more clear?

I could always make Monaco a bit bigger... this will help to (a) clear up the ocean route, and (b) make Monaco easier to see, and (c) help with the small map...

Sounds like a plan.

At last, some gameplay discussion!
I'm still partially undecided on the bonuses I've assigned, and Italy is one of them...
I'm thinking that Italy will start neutral, so that nobody can start with it from the drop. There isn't anywhere easy to expand to from Italy, and I'm not sure whether to give it a 1 or 2...
What do others think?
MrBenn...forgive me for not trolling all the way back through the thread if this has already been discussed,,,but how is this going to go for downsizing to the small map...are the armies going to fit onto some of these smaller terts.
Also the Slovakia word would be covered possibly by triple digit armies...do you have a contingency for that?
