Search before you post, as there are at least two (perhaps more!) topics about this. :)

No Fortifications

Post by BeakerWMA »

<Subject>:
Concise Idea: when you end your attacks your turn is done. No fortifying.

<Body>:

Suggestion Idea: No fortifications permitted (consider it trench warfare where your armies stay where they are unless they are attacking).

Specifics: As indicated, once you are done attacking you are not allowed to fortify at all.

Why it is needed: Another type of gameplay (would give 4 different kinds of fortification games). This would force players to really consider where they are placing their reinforcements as they could not rectify mistakes by forting. Gameplay/strategy would be difficult as your main army could be trapped if you don't place your armies properly at the outset.

Just a thought...
(I did a search and didn't see this mentioned before)

This was my thinking. I was finishing an unlimited fort turn the other day and moving armies around and it hit me how interesting it would make a game if you couldn;t do any shifting at all at the end of your turn. Make the proper placing of your armies so much more important, really have to take your time and think of all the potential outcomes.

I would play it.

It would completely rearrange my current strategy to win, but whatever, it sounds fun enough to lose a few points over

I am an all or nothing type of person...meaning normally I like playing unlimited fortifications...but....

I love the posibility of this option. Talk about strategy...huge.

Only Negative i see is the times your opponent gets that great drop and controls a bonus...You are probably going to lose in that scenario without the ability to create a large attack group.

Even with that beins said I would like to see it.

No fortification option? Mods Look In Here!

Post by keiths31 »

No fortification option? There are a group of us playing a game without forting after your turn. Anyone else ever try playing a game this way? Anyone interested in making this an option?

http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=1696286

--------------------------------------

Suggestion Idea: No Fortification Option

Specifics: A fourth fortification option would be added to the Start A Game choices, but it would be for No Forts

Why it is needed: There's already an option for no cards, so why not?? It would add a heck of a lot more strategy.

*for the record-this is Timminz idea*

It'd be cool to have no-Fort matches. So definitely a thumbs-up from me (not that it matters other than +1).

I don't know why I never thought of it before, but I like the idea! You could really get screwed by trapping your troops behind your own lines

A+ suggestion, because I'm sure it would be very easy to implement and it would have a big effect on gameplay in some instances.

Come on keiths31, you put forth a good idea but you forgot to use the form.  Geez, you're letting your fellow G1 members down. Good thing I've got your back.

There was a form...d'oh!

And you have to give the credit for the idea to Timminz. His idea and he created the game...I am merely a player

Heh, good game... whyever not.

I officially approve of the implementation of this (I assume nearly zero required effort) game option.

If people no ahead of time that they cannot fortify, they will be much more careful about placing armies. They will be placing 3 here, 4 there, 2 over there and such. That way they can advance in more complicated fashions.

I see this idea as one that will REALLY prove who knows how to play strategically and who doesn't. Would LOVE to see it implemented.
