WTF? Best? There is no best. There are personal favorites, but best, there is none. There are 'worst', and I'd put the plastic recorders among them, but there is no 'best instrument'.

Qft.
As a personal favourite I'd put the Double bass, but that's just cause I like the way it looks and sounds.

I have to agree - I played bass but I then sold it because it bored me. But its very versatile.

The flute inside your pants isn't doing the trick, we all see right through it. Silly boy.

That being said, my favorite instrument is the guitar.

Well, out of the ones that I have played, I'd say the alto sax would be the top one for me. Played for 3 years, as well as the cello (1 year), viola (1 year), and piano (2 years).

The piano is great....you can really rock out on it....and there is more "good" music written for the piano then anything else....

But I really like the acoustic guitar.... Mason Williams - Classical Gas is fantastic.

Agreed with the thought that there is no "best" but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the guitar. I mean, I realize the rest of these instruments have been marching band/orchestra-type instruments, but I still say guitar.

I played piano from I was 7 until I was 12, took courses I mean. I still play for fun every now and then to keep it up lol

It depends though, if you mean what I like to listen to or play myself. Obviously I like to play the piano (I can't really play anything else).
hmm to listen to, almost all really, but I've always loved guitars. You know when you're all sitting around the bonfire and one of the guys bring out his guitar and starts playing :D Nothing charms me more than that! But I guess I like to listen to piano too, and of course drums are always cool, but it usually needs some sort of other instrument too.

So all in all, I can safely say that my favourite instrument is the tambourine.

Why do we have so much in common? :?

Do you mean just the drums or all percussion? 'Cause I think the drums are fine by themselves or in a rock band but in an orchestral band I would want full percussion.

I once knew how to play a recorder, but thankfully the only thing I remember about it was that I once did it (Oh, how I wish I could forget #-o, curse my excellent memory that-might-only-begin-to-decline-when-I'm-old-and-grey).

If given a choice of free lessons for a year, I'll take the guitar lessons.
