Escalating +1/Player Specific Cash Ins *Pending*

Post by Zepy12 »

Don't know if anyone has suggested this...but I would like to see a card option of Ascending plus one in addition to what we have now, (set, ascending, and no cards).

Asc+1, would start at 4, then 5, 6,7,...etc.

It avoids the explosivness of ascending...but provides for a quicker game than set.

Just a suggestion...

asc plus 1

Post by Scarus »

Yes, when we play online with the RiskII cd this is one of the most popular settings. It's kind of a middle setting where flatliners and card whores can find common ground.

As it is now, I find myself playing in a lot of flat rate games, (even though I hate them), just so I can play with some of my friends. I know a lot of people who prefer flat rate games also jump into my escalating games just so they can enjoy my scintillating wit, and great company....lol

asc +1 games are a great compromise for both types of players.

Once I suggested escalating cards for each player. Your 1st set is 4, 2nd 6, 3rd 8, 4th 10... And the same for each player. I played using this with friends and think its good. What do you think?

Interesting. Very interesting. I think I like it.

A lot.

Don't know how hard it will be for Lack on the programming end, though.

I'd love to see just one of the two options implemented, both would be fantastic.

This is slightly off topic, but what about another option like "real flat rate"? Where everytime you trade in a set, you get the same bonus, regardless of colors.

I know people get "bad dice" a lot. And if you get a few sets of red cards in a row while your opponents get mixed sets, that's pretty disheartening too.

By having a real flat rate option, it would eliminate one of the random factors.

I too play risk2 and like the ASC+1 option very much. Most of my games I play on war zone are with that options. ASC game are too much luck but ASC+1 requires a bit more skill but a bit quicker to finsih tha SET games.

'Player Specific Cash-Ins' is grouped on the To-Do list with 'Ascending +1'. Both are currently Pending. We'll have to see what Lack has in store!

yes, I agree, i like if you cash in your cards the 1st time for all players it is 4, then 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, then stop at 25 (limit it to that), and would just continue to be 25, equal for all, Marv has a great idea here.

Also, enjoy and would like to see the cash in of cards go plus one only, 4, 5,6 ,7 , 8, 9, and this could be ongoing with no limit to it

I agree and I remember another discussion of additional card options but don't recall who ran it. It had posts from only a month or 2 ago.

I would like the personal ascending option. I hate attacking early in an ascending game to get a bonus, just to be forced to turn in cards for 4 armies, and by me next turn someone has turned in cards for 12 or 15. I would much prefer that the ascending values be applied to individuals and not the group.

Love the individual escalation, but I'd prefer the compromise escalation rate to be at +2. I'm definitely not a fan of escalating cards, but even I think that a +1 rate is a bit slow and boring. Or maybe keep it at +1 for the first few sets (until the value reaches 10 or so) so that way it doesn't get ridiculous for the early-cashers, but so that later in the game turning in a set can still have a bit of an impact.

I've had this same idea and was about to suggest it as well before I read down the thread. I would like to see this replace escalating games if not supplement the flat rate, escalating, and no cards game options.

It should definatly not replace escalating. That was the original way the game was played, and many people are happy with it. It is a very different strategy.

Bad idea's.I think these all sound good but would think it is very much like Flat Rate and would only create more build games but if that's what you people enjoy knock yourselves out. This is an option you can choose right?! Not something that will be enforced on all?
