Because they can coersively decide a time when to have a double turn. Such as person A and B wait until there is little time left in the round. A goes and then B. Now the round is over. A goes ...

A speedier way to do it would be to just have some sort of database inquiry such as a name or certain ranks, etc. This way you don't have to wait for the entire page to load full of names.

Wouldn't it be better to reverse the order of sequential so the last person who signs up goes first? Its not a big deal, but may save an entire day because they can go as soon as they enter the game.

Set it up so people can't start entering games unless they read and accept the "rules of play" beforehand. I'm not much of a coder, but you should be able to link profiles to an acceptance of reading through the rules.

Unless I've not noticed this, you lose pts if you don't win. What about big games? If you get second amongst 5 people do you still lose points? I would think second of five people is still worth not losing points.

I think what he means is that people think their turn is over, but they still have to click end fortifications. I see this happening in my games too. You end a round and then begin a round. Basically out-wait your opponents.

I enjoy having North America because its a 5 pt bonus and only has 3 entry points. It is much easier to defend than Europe and is an easy access to South America. Generally, if you control North America, you can work your way down to South America and then to Africa.
