This absolutely won't happen, regardless of how simple changing usernames could be made because usernames are your identity on CC. Basically, if people could change their username, you wouldn't ever know who someone really was.

Why should they become inactive? Forum goers with an extensive history of forum infractions can essentially start off free if they just take a break from the site and have there account deleted/locked. Or if a user is close to being permanently banned from the site, they can do the exact same thing ...
