Re: The Unsurpassed Championship 1 (1 v 1 Single Elimination

I'm in. Any map. Any set up. Any opponent. Any time.

If you are going to be a champion, you should be able to be a champion under any conditions.

Re: New Feedback System Preview

My only suggestion would be to change "attendance" to "timeliness" or something. There are people who only take turns once a day and people who are always logged on. So, for people who like to play quickly, it would be nice to know if opponents, in general take a long time to take their turns.

Well, not only that Guiscard, but Paul was writing for the Apocolypse. He, along with much of first century Christianity, thought the second coming was imminent. So, In Corinthians , when he said, "women obey your husbands", that dynamic is not meant to permeate the ages, but rather, he was saying ...

We have to stop this talk of GEB - I've just picked it up to read again and am only up to Figure and Ground (just past the p q system, happy horse apple and all that) all this talk of Genies is spoiling it for me! Next you'll be talking of Holism and Reductionism and I won't bother re-reading the ...

dnucci God or Gods? - reading your post I had visions (based on Hofstatders Genie) of the God, meta-God, meta-meta-God , meta-meta-meta-God , meta-meta-meta-meta-God , meta-meta-meta-meta-meta-God , meta-meta-meta-meta-meta-meta-God

What's the difference? The difference between God and Gods is ...

Re: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

If you assume that a creator created things, then you have the EXACT same question sitting on your plate - who created the creator? How is it somehow possible to accept that everything must have been started by god, yet at the same time not question how that god came to be? It's a never-ending ...

Colossus, could you give an example of hidden meaning that you have found by applying this metaphorical approach?

Great point. I will absolutely offer an example as best I can. I am heading off on vacation for the next week and a half, so I'll try to isolate one by the time I get back. The ...

Please explain why gnosticism is contrary to scripture. Saying "end of story" doesn't really cut it.

Gnostic teaching holds that the 'God' who was father to Jesus (and by way of the Trinity, Jesus too) was not the same 'God' who created the world. Scripture is clear on this point.

I have not ...

The idea that such contextual subtleties CAN be lost in translation and the impact that has on the meaning of scripture.

Yah I have read GEB. I used to be a math teacher and used to teach my kids about Penrose tiling. Penrose tiling is a system of tesselation that produces an infinite, yet aperdiodic tiling. very cool. I haven't read the book you cite Heavycola, but it sounds good. The idea that consciousness is non ...

Oh not true, dude. For example, In John, there is a passage where in Christ asks Peter 3 times if he loves him, and Peter answers three times "of course I love you." But in Aramaic and Greek, there were two different words for love. One agape meant to love unconditionally. Jesus was using this form ...

The bottom line is that if there is a Universal, Infinite God, then it certainly cannot be contained within ...

Well, Backglass, I do believe in God, but I don't believe in an afterlife. I believe in the power of the life of Jesus, but I don't believe that the point of that power is some illusory "salvation" or personal resurrection. Instead, I believe that the teachings of Jesus lead to a life of peace and ...

One has to wonder about this quote: "All thinking men are Atheists." First of all . . . All squares are rectangles. That does not mean that if you are a rectangle, you are necessarily a square. Hemmingway's words then do not mean that all Atheists are thinking men.

Secondly, I think most readers ...

18 is a good age. Old enough to go to college. Old enough to vote. Old enough to drink, but also, I would say, a good driving age. So 18 for voting, driving, drinking, and drafting.

BK, I totally hear you on your personal history. To me, the message of Jesus is simple: Love God, and Love your Neighbor. A tree will be judged by its fruits. However, just because it is simple, doesn't mean it is easy.

In addition, I totally agree with your take on how Jesus felt about the ...

So, BK, by this I am gathering that you (a) have studied theology in some formal context and (b) have discarded organized Christianity. Am I correct on both counts?
