I don't know how that negative thing would go. Someone just reported a bug in which a guy was somehow deploying negative armies and it got all goofy and would give him like 13923095 troops. I guess you'd have to talk to lack about that.

Overflows are fun! Though I didn't know php supported ...

Re: I hate unlimited fortification games

Well, they really help make up for the even-distribution of armies at the start of a game (instead of choosing the countries to place each army in, which would admittedly be interminable with subsequent 24-hour turns on here). I think it'd be interesting to allow one- or two-turn unlimited ...

I dont see why people like South America. it gives a bonus of 2 and has 2 boarders. Oceania gives 2 and only has one boarder.

Where do you go once your have Oceania? There's only Asia, which is difficult to hold. You could try for two discontiguous areas, but in my experience, players rarely ...

If you can't find a continent easily, try to consolidate some of your troops, in some reasonably non-threatening location, so you can have a large attacking force to either:

Yes, that's a good point. If you start with a weak position, with few adjacent countries (ie ...

Re: favorite continent to have

It also depends how many players are in the game. Europe & N America, or even Africa can be very difficult to hold early in a 5- or 6-player game. There, going for a small continent is the way to go, if possible, building a small advantage slowly. South America is a favorite because it gives you 2 ...

* Have a good feel for odds when you go into battle. Consultation of a risk odds calculator can be helpful. Here's one on the web: m.

* Keep careful track of how many reinforcements each player will get, and how many cards they have. Keep an eye out for weak players with lots of cards, because ...

Re: I'd be nice if this game were a bit more believable.

This isn't the first time "the unbelievable" has happened.

Certainly not... consider the battles of Marathon... Thermopylae... Gaugamela ... Agincourt... the Spanish Armada... Trafalgar... Napoleon's invasian of Russia... Midway... the Tet Offensive.

Sometimes superior tactics or arms ...

Most of my Risk back-ground is with the board-game version.

In FtF encounters, in-game deals were considered a natural part of play.

Ganging up on the top-dog... was just a fact-of-life

Why is it considered cheating in online versions?

I'm not advocating a pro or con stance on the topic... I ...

Ditto that, it could get a bit hectic. Not to mention there have never been 8 players in a real riskboard anyway. It's always been 6.

The classic board just has 6 continents. But there are at least a couple maps here that have 8 continents--Crossword & Montreal I can think of offhand. It could ...

Suggestion: Ranked games

Perhaps another type of game should be allowed besides simple private and public games: ranked games where one must have a certain skill ranking to join.

Question about the scoring formula

I was muttering about losing a game recently where there was a moderate spread of difference between my points and the winner, and was wondering:
Is there an upper limit on the number of points you can lose in a single game?

You know, if a player ever managed to lose enough games to put his ...

While an option for such a thing would be good, the current gameplay should be still allowed - it adds an additional level of strategy, because such firepower can be achieved only through being very organised.

Grr, so speaks one of the members of the EVIL team which spurred me to make this post.

Team games sequential turn suggestion

Forgive me if this has been brought up before; I checked recent topics and didn't see anything on the subject.
