Re: Assassin tips?

A few things I try to do or keep in mind:

a) if it's a Manual troop deployment game, exa mine initial deployment to try to figure out which target everyone has
b) pay close attention to anyone that looks close to extinction, and consider blocking or otherwise defending them if it would mean ...

I cannot attack the LAST territory owned by opponent: 3843, Round 84

any suggestions?

There are very few buttons that I see, so I do not see the cause of the problem.

I don't know anything about Conquer, except that it's a RISK minigame.

Close.

RISK is actually a special-case of the more ...

Re: Biden presidency predictions

The common thread is you’ve parroted all of these“predictions” from other ridiculous Internet Trolls.

Thanks for the confirmation on my analysis of you.

The actual common theme in every prediction is restriction of freedom.

LOL

Several of the “predictions” have nothing to do with a ...

suggested map theme: Game of Thrones

Based on what i saw here, I suggest as a potential theme using Game of Thrones...

I realize there are some potential thematic obstacles like copyrights and all that jazz, but I bet there's a way to safely navigate such an issue.

Re: Suggestion for new type of maps

People would complain that the random map features are slanted against them, just like they complain about the dice now. That isn't a reason to avoid it, just point out that there will be a new wave of complaining and whining and misunderstanding of probability.

Re: How to play USA 2.1

Of course any good "how do I play this map?" question has to start with the "it depends on the settings" answer.

If playing Trench 2v2, you can almost certainly find a few states that you can accomplish what I call "trench-walling" of the bonuses, meaning you capture not just the bonus, but also ...

Re: Phantasia Altitudinis [16/9] Page 1/4

In the "armies" section you have both:
1-15 regions = 3 armies, and
15+ regions = 5 armies

The situation of 15 regions is included in both of those situations, so you should change one of them.
Option 1: 1-14 = 3 armies, 15+ = 5 armies
Option 2: 1-15 = 3 armies, 16+ = 5 armies

The larger the map, the more closely Nuclear spoils resembles No Spoils.
The fewer the players, the more closely Nuclear spoils resembles No Spoils.

This is because, if you assume that every player earns a card every turn, then from turns 6 and onward, you will have 3*#Players territories getting ...

Re: 10 Simple Objectives/Concepts For Playing Team Games

I value eliminating an opponent above knocking down their territory count or breaking their bonus. That is because once they are eliminated, they can't come back. That is 3 troops per turn they will never see again. Plus any spoils they would earn will never be earned.

Ah, I hadn't gotten as far as thinking of how it would get abused (which would have instantly prompted me to think of how the abuse opportunity could be removed from the function preemptively).

Re: Surrender as a game setting / special "move"

Some of you might recognize that in the game of blackjack, there is a move [only in some casinos, it has been removed from many of them in order to increase the house edge] called Surrender in which you simply forfeit half your bet to the dealer and your involvement in that hand ends.

The points ...

Surrender as a game setting / special "move"

This morning I was listening to some guy's lecture on WWI and WWII and he described why France surrendered early in WWII. Basically he said it was because the French had learned from WWI experience that going to war was highly damaging, expensive, and generally ended without any real benefit, so ...

Re: Odds of getting a spoil set with 4 cards?

pr(set, given 3 cards) = 1/3, so
pr(no set, given 3 cards) = 2/3

If you have no set with your 3 cards, then you have 2 cards of one color and 1 card of a second color. Without loss of generality, say you have 2 blue cards and 1 green card. Thus from that point the only way you don't have a set on ...

Re: World 2.1 No Spoil Quads Help

Everything is about teammate communication and coordination. Your goals will change as the game develops.

Here are the principles I try to incorporate:
1) only take a bonus if it can be defended
2) don't attack an opponents' territory if that will leave the other team with only having one of their ...

Re: Economics - Government takeover of money

No, those examples are not great examples.

In every example, when 10 people have a thing they created that day, why do they then give their thing away at some point in exchange for the $1? This is where I think the examples all break down. Nobody would just accept that $1 in exchange for giving ...

You have more than two options.

The two you stated:
1) get out of there and seek a softer nut to crack
2) attack/fight
3) wait and ask them to leave
4) wait and tell them to leave
5) wait and suggest they leave

Re: Mexico Invading USA!!!

The map is interesting but largely useless because of how it is constructed.

If you have one "ancestry" with 15% of the people in that county, that can easily be the biggest with the other ancestries having 14%, 13%, etc. It doesn't really say much.

A major depression was not avoided via stimulus, TARP, bank bailouts, auto bailouts, etc. Auto companies weren't competitive, so they were handed money. They learn no lesson. Further, as part of bankruptcy proceedings, the contractual rights of bondholders were stomped on. They should have been in ...

Yes, it is absolutely possible. I think it is at least partially probable. More specifically, I think it is probably partial. The whole thing won't be repealed, but hopefully large pieces of it will be.

I would like sections 2718, 1102, and 1103 repealed.

You need to constantly evaluate how you can preserve your teams' deployment while decreasing the other team, similar to posted right above this. Just about every attack you can make where it is:
3 dice against 2,
3 dice against 1,
2 dice against 1,
should be made.
The situations you woudln't make ...
