Re: What were the first 10 maps on CC?
It should be noted that half of those first ten maps - including Classic - have been redone since their release date and resemble the originals in gameplay only.

Re: RIP Foundry Avatars
But what if all of the current mapmakers & foundry staff left at once, so there would be no one to instruct the new mapmakers? Would the new crew be able to construct a new foundry, completely from scratch? I'm not sure... maybe with time they could.

Re: RIP Foundry Avatars
Let me tell you all a little story. A few years ago, a bunch of guys with names like Widowmakers and Coleman and RjBeals and DiM and cairnswk and qwert and Keyogi and mibi and gimil and edbeard and oaktown began working on our first maps. Some of these maps weren't very good (Chinese Checkers) . But ...

Re: Maya - The Classic Era [24.1.12] p3
Already looks better than anything I ever did with this map!
Regarding the naming, maybe I missed it if somebody already posted this but some of the cities depicted here aren't even remotely Mayan, but all existed during what is called the Classic Era of Mesoamerican civilization. The Mayans never ...

It's rare that I venture into a Conk map thread these days, and when I do so it's usually to witness a train wreck. I came into this thread fully expecting to find a steaming pile, and I don't mean the one in the bottom left corner.
Instead... I kinda dig it.

I was going to enter, but don't have the time. This is not an entry. This is about 6 hours on and off.
A couple of weeks ago when Rj showed me his map, it got my competitive juices flowing and I put something together. But, like Rj, I decided not to enter for a variety of reasons. Anyway, DiM said ...

Re: Revamped Classic map (answers needed)
Classic Art wasn't the greatest piece of art ever made here, but the process was fascinating and I'm proud of what we did. A group of us watched as mibi threw the basic elements together in a webcast before our eyes, while the rest of us error checked, wrote the XML, came up with names and the theme ...

Re: Quad Cities Map
I would like to just say, wwod?
what would oaktown do?
Made my day, nobunaga.
What would I do? I probably wouldn't have attempted this map in the first place - I never liked the idea of using map subjects that have only regional interest.
That said, I agree with nobunaga that this map is clean ...

Each year in March we revisit this map,
That - while fun to make - plays like total crap.
So give it a try and hope for some luck,
'Cause if you don't have some you're totally fiddlesticked.

I've not been keeping track for the past year or two, but my sense it that it's been a while since this discussion was had here in the Foundry. But know that it has been had - many times - and usually far less politely than you all are going about it.

You guys aren't even trying... if it's under 100 rounds it shouldn't even appear on the list. These are the longest games I've personally been in, and all are complete. Some took over 18 months to complete.
