Totally agree, hide the log entirely during the game but make it available for review in the archives. This means that you wouldn't know what the next set is worth in escalating spoils.
As for the map, don't change it from the current fog. You have to know who is in adjacent territories and their ...

Re: Patriot cards.
I like the idea of doubling the number of troops on the territories whose cards are played. It would certainly make people more eager to fight for a specific territory and would increase opportunities for complete reshuffling of the board.

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V8, page 24, 11/21/09)
I think V8 is as good as it's gonna get in terms of cities. The only questionable connection is Novosibirsk-Manila, but there had to be one. Congrats and good work sully.
PS: I still think seeing what a magnified inset would look like would be cool, but I realize that's a lot of work and we're past ...

As promised, here are some mock-ups with the magnification of the Far East:

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V6, page 20, 11/12/09)
I actually just had a totally different idea that might be crazy, but it might work. What if you create a map within a map of an area essentially centered and zoomed in on Shanghai w/ Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, and Vladivostok. Have this zoomed in map overlay most of NE Russia and just draw ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V6, page 20, 11/12/09)
I agree that the pointers don't really work, but one remote Russian city can be removed from V6 by at least moving Tokyo to Manila and Magadan to Tokyo making it the new exit point. I realize that wasn't the territory that represented Japan in the original game, but as you said, we don't have "to ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V6, page 18, 10/31/09)
If pointers are a possibility, here is an arrangement of cities in asia that I think addresses most comments http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/89/worldpointersmapasia.jpg
Obviously, this doesn't have pointers, so the spacing is not what it will look like, but it shows what could be ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V6, page 18, 10/31/09)
This is the hardest point of discussion, but if it's physically doable, I still think Asia should be reworked a little. If you just make Jakarta and Manila part of Asia (as I allude to in point #2), you can eliminate Magadan and Yakutsk. The connection to North America then gets moved south and the ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V5, page 14, 10/19/09)
Africa used to look like your proposal, but it was changed to the current layout so that Capetown would be representing South Africa (and since this caused no major upheavals I think it was a good change). I could possibly change Lagos to Kinshasa, but Lagos is more heavily populated, easier to say ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V5, page 14, 10/19/09)
Why not? I'm really confused about this mentality. If you insist of having a city in China represent a territory on a different map that is called China, then with that same brush you will also lose Beijing and Chicago and add unknown cities to Canada and Eastern Russia and Madagascar and other ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V5, page 14, 10/19/09)
Let's move on from Bogota vs. Caracas - Bogota is fine. That was not my main concern and it sidetracks the discussion to a single city when an entire continent still needs work. To re-iterate my biggest objection, you cannot have a map without a connection from China to SE Asia (in this case Bangkok ...

sully,
Thanks for the reply. If you want some elaboration on why some of my recommended changes should be made, I'm happy to explain further. In general, modern geopolitics is the main reason (after all, population can't be the only reason since some cities have to be included simply because of ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp (V5, page 14, 10/19/09)
Not sure if you're still taking comments for major modifications to cities, but I'm not a regular and just saw the post. Here are my thoughts:
IMO, Asia could still be improved. A city in China has to be to central territory, not Delhi. I say pick either Delhi or Mumbai to be India, bring back ...
