Re: Celtic 7 Nations v3.7
out of curiosity, should it be Giants' Causeway or Giant's Causeway? It looks like it should be possessive, not plural. Also, there shouldn't be a comma between it and the phrase "belongs to no bonus." I think I saw something else that just bugged me, but can't seem to find it, so I think I might be ...

Re: Greater Sydney V1
I like the roads as impassables idea. It lets you divide up an area that doesn't have any natural divisions by including what I'm guessing is a major roadway? anyway, just a thought, at first glance it currently looks like the four-way assaults EVERY territory. Upon reading what the other crossings ...

Re: breaking a truce
I'm not quite understanding why you owe players any sort of warning before breaking a truce. Did Hitler warn Stalin before he attacked him? NO! He just attacked him! If it's that way in the real world, then why shouldn't it be that way here as well?

Re: orangeade / Rating abuse.
I actually find myself feeling a bit lucky with the numbers on one of my lowest ratings, at this point. I received a 5 star in fair play, and only one in each of the others for game number 6180686. I'm currently checking this to make sure, but I foe'd him during the only game I've played with him ...

Re: Wheel of Time Map | WOT | Tar Valon etc.
thanks. I'm gonna be as involved as I can with this map (only two things kept me from making it myself: lack of time, and lack of knowledge on getting around copyright) and I'll stubbornly suggest any ideas I have . Love the series, and would love to help with a map based on it!

Re: Wheel of Time Map | WOT | Tar Valon etc.
I think I'm failing to communicate my idea on the ways. They don't one-way attack. They border every major city. That's why it's such a powerful idea. But:
a) Machin Shin kills everything left in the ways if you hold it for a turn (killer neutral)
b) it's not particularly easy to get in (the killer ...

Re: Wheel of Time Map | WOT | Tar Valon etc.
As of now, i think that the map should reflect the world in the world in the time period of the Eye of the World to befor the end of The Dragon Rebon,
Then you can't include the Seanchan.
Do you think that I should get rid of the big Aiel waste, going back to the 4 territories for the aiel ...

Re: Wheel of Time Map | WOT | Tar Valon etc.
you mean too large in dimentions (width by height, not number of territs) right? (just for clarifications, and because I think that since the book is epic fantasy, the map should be large [# of territs]. I mean, it's a big world...)

Re: The HIVE *V20*- [AdvD, D,GP,GX,XML,FF,Beta]
well, I could have told you clicky would be slower than other maps after seeing the first thread. The objective statement for the map was to make the largest possible map. High # of territs => long xml => slow clicky. And BOB. I don't use clicky, so I don't feel your pain there yet, but i just ...

Re: The HIVE *V20*- [AdvD, D,GP,GX,XML,FF,Beta]
Okay quite a big suggestion here:
I played a speed game on this earlier with our man AAfitz 6319308
This game took us about 45 minutes to complete, most of the time was spent mopping up armies at the end of the game, i think that instead of the middle honeycomb we could have say an objective ...

Actually, there are so many and they're all about the same amount too high, so it may turn out to be balanced as is... I wonder if it would... might be interesting. I'd say they're not too bad, tho, since you do at least get one troop for each territ that'll need reinforce for each region. My first ...

Re: Wheel of Time Map | WOT | Tar Valon etc.
mmm no I think capitals should be conquerable (you said you're reading path of daggers right? a whole third of that book is about the siege of caemlyn.) my suggestion was to have a symbol for a territory that has a waygate in it and a territory off to one side called "the ways" which is killer ...

Re: Final Forge
personally, i rarely add anything to a map after it gets out of drafts, mainly because I just don't know enough to see what needs changed. I've expanded into gameplay and graphics a bit after a little more experience, and I commented when The Hive made it to final forge, but I didn't add anything to ...

Re: wheel of time map
well in the older thread I suggested that the ways should be a territory that borders all the ogier built cities but reset to a certain number neutral at the end of a turn (get your troops through fast, or Machin Shin will destroy them). Then the thread kinda died (I'm not sure why). What do you ...

Re: A New World: a project in cartography
I'm very interested in the world you'll create with this. Is there any way you could make the background info accessible? I realize you don't want extraneous and unfocused contribution, but I'd like to be able to see progress on world-making and the map would make more sense if you could access ...

Re: wheel of time map
Somebody was saying in the other thread that they'd gotten permission, or that there was some fan art issue. I don't know exactly what the technicalities were, but to summarize they thought they'd be allowed to do it. Then the thread trailed off and I don't know why. But ya, this is the third such ...

alright. That's about what I expected, but it seemed like an innovative enough idea that I thought i'd throw it out there. See what's possible, see how bad the reception is, decide if I want to try to work around that. If it's really that bad at first glance, then it's not worth taking a shot at ...

dual-level map
ok, so I was sitting thinking, slightly bored, enjoying the variety of the map ideas here, and I remembered one I saw here for a city with three levels, and I had an odd thought: what if we had two levels in a map, the small map, and the large map. One moves between the two by changing the map size ...

hey, I'm not trying to be a smart-alec, it just really bugs me that anything in space is commonly referred to as "galactic" even though that should mean dealing with a galaxy. I'm just trying to keep a common mistake from being propagated. As I said at first, no offense intended. Once I see the ...

ha... if I was far enough ahead in any of those games I would try that. However, I only have two of the four that I'm doing well in, and I could lose the game that I'm down to two territories a lot faster than I could win either of those... Thanks for the encouragement though.
